S.E slip-ons from 05 to 07
« on: February 15, 2007, 08:18:54 PM »

I was wondering if my S.E. slip-on's will work on my new 07 off my 05? I liked the way they sounded on my 05 I had no other modes on it and would like to put them on my 07. the H-D acc. cataloge said they will not work is this so they can sell my another set of pipes or will they not work? I realy did not want to remap the bike if possable.

I had the same on my 2005 with the billet end caps. I let the slip ons go with my trade but have gone back to them. I have them on my 07 Smurf and have had no problems. I do now have Bassani Header Pipes and a SERT and HD High Flow AC but they worked fine with the stock exhaust before I went with the header pipe change.  They look the same as my 05's slip ons just do not have the Screamin Eagle name on them. They are Kerker Suprtrapps and here is the link:

http://www.supertrapp.com/product_sections/cat.asp?CatID=13

Here are the caps I had on them: http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/gma_product.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524448767326&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302519159&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374302519159&bmUID=1171589721475&bmLocale=en_US

I have not seen a Slip on in the HD catalog that says it will fit the 07 CVO???
All the slips for touring say fit all EXCEPT FLHTCUSE2 Or will not fit FLHTCUSE2
Something like that.
But I have a pair off of my 06 that I am going to try. SE slips w/Billet end caps, That
sounded great on the 06! I will let ya know.

I'm pretty sure if you get ANY slip on from the HD dealer that is listed to fit an 07 it will have converters in the right side muffler due to EPA. Thats why they are phasing out the SE stuff (liabilty). Kerker was the manufacturer of the SE Slip Ons that HD sold before that they DO NOT sell anymore (due to EPA). I odered a pair thru my local dealer with the billet end caps. They sound exactly the same and look exactly the same as the SE version. The ONLY difference is that the name Screamin Eagle is not stamped into the finish. I will try to get an exact part number from my dealer if they will give it to me as I no longer have the receipt.

I believe it was Super Trapp that produced the slip on mufflers for the MoCo, and they are still selling them as Super Trapp SE Slip Ons.

Actually, it was Kerker that made them for years, but somewhere along the way, Kerker and S-T merged and now they put the S-T name on them. I bought some of the PAT baffles years ago from Kerker and they confirmed then that Kerker was the maker.

That would be correct. If you look at my first post you will see I posted both names. I just wasn't sure who got top billing or if they still shared their independency. ;D

this is the part #65259-00 page 567 that i had on my 05. That perticular slip-on requires no remap. can any one tell me if I can use them on my 07 and not have to remap the bike? I now I can get better performance from so other pipes and a/c but it sounds good and runs good to me.

As long as you only change the mufflers you should not have to remap the bike. I used the V&H Ovals on my 07 for awhile b4 adding the Bassanis and SERT and AC and it was fine. Awhile being about 1000 miles.

I'd remap an '07 if I did nothing else to the bike, just to get the AFR correct and protect my engine! After reading things here and many discussions with people, I'd do it with an '07 110" or a 96". They're just not setup properly by design, period! ;) Hoist! 8)

I did the same thing to my 07 as soon as I bought it. I checked with my local mechanic and here's what I was told. Changing the exhaust can make the bike run too lean. HD already has the bike running as lean, or more lean than it should. Running lean could make the engine overheat. Being as these engines are air-cooled, that could be serious. I was told to do this:

1) Remove the sparkplug and get a good mental picture of it. If it's running too hot it was develop a white chalky apperarance. If it's running right, it will be tanned colored, similar to my skin. I'm caucasion. LOL

2) Change the exhaust and crank it and listen to it run. If it sounds ok, run it down the road a few miles. P.S. Remember to put both plug wires back on. A twin cam doesn't sound right running on one cylinder. I remember thinking, DAMN, pipes made a huge difference.

3) After riding a few miles check the plug again. If it doesn't look chalky white, ride on. Just keep an eye on it for a while.

I agree with Hoist though. Due to EPA regulations, All HD's are running too lean. Best to have them all tuned in my humble opinion.

When I changed mine I kept a check on the plugs the whole time and it actually ran richer.

I would eventually map the bike down the road if I were you though but you can run the bike as suggested keeping an eye on the plugs which is an important part I forgot to mention.

To each his own but if you want the absolute best performance at LEAST the bike should be mapped and at BEST change the header pipes, muffs and AC and add the SERT and have the bike Dynoed by a reputable technician.
