2015 Tag Bracket
« on: September 26, 2014, 11:38:27 AM »

Hello people, I'm picking up my 2015 RG Ultra Blue in the morning and need a little advice. I ride solo 99% of the time and want to set my bike up for that purpose but the tag bracket in HD's detach kit is ugly and stands the licence plate up above the tail lamp. I will be removing the tour pac and when I do put it on it will be set up solo right behind me so I need a tag bracket that stays on the bike and preferably below the light bar. I can't find one listed from the MoCo for the Ultra and don't mind using an aftermarket if I can find a nice one to fit under the light bar. Sorry for the long explaination I have an attachment that may help.

I have ordered a Curved plate frame bracket for a Street glide.  It will mount under the tail light like on a street glide with a little grinding on the frame that can not be seen when installed.  Then I ordered a lighted plate frame that fits http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=271305990482.  This will light the plate as required by law, just have to tap into the tail light.  Then I will cover the white light out of the top of the tail light that was for the original plate frame.

Dave, I see what your thinking but is the light bar not different on a SG than an ultra? Maybe order the whole light bar and tag bracket, that way it would have the tag lamp. The only problem we may have is the hole in the Ultra rear fender being different than a SG.

Exactly Oakmtnbody, that is what I did - the turn signal "bar" and curved license plate or tag bracket (everything below the tail light) is one piece and includes the light that shines down onto the license plate. Here is a photo of it on my 13 Cuse8 and now transferred to the 15 Fltruse... Not sure if it is HD or Kury or? so pls get a hold of Jim at Metal Dragon near SF, CA and he can steer you in the right direction

Kury and Yaffe both offer brackets.   I have the Yaffe.  Looks great.  :2vrolijk_21:Stuart

Softbrake license plate relocator.

Of course you will need a light for the tag. You could either switch to a light bar with integrated tag light that comes on the SG, RG or RK. Or you could check out the LED tag bolts or lighted tag frames from Custom Dynamics.

I'm looking for a bolt on replacement curved tag bracket, but Yaffe told me their bracket won't fit with the existing turn signal light bar. Anyone have other suggestions other than grinding the H-D part?

Appreciate any suggestions!
