They did good on the new RGC.  Those vents are for better aerodynamics and they sure work.  Just do not keep them open when it is raining  :huepfenlol2:

Too bad a RGC CVO was not in the line up this year.  Would have jumped on one...

everybody that has looked at the bike has said that.  but most of the people that have actually ridden it say they are pretty comfortable......   :nixweiss:

Yup. You are looking for a Road Glide Custom CVO .. like the 2013 lineup. I personally like the Ultra for the long hauling.

Definitely convinced that RED is my favorite color. I guess I will find out for sure then I see the Carbon Dust/Autumn Sunset in person this weekend. Saw the blue at the local dealer today. Blue was inside the barn and unassembled but looked too dark for my taste.

Go RED!

See if I answer any more of your questions  :P

Damn that looks good. My '11 is going in for it's 35k service tomorrow. I'll get more info in the morning if they have any to give me on it's arrival.

I'll be moving my Slipstream mirrors to it as soon as it gets here. And my shifter linkage also. I should have gotten in on the last emblem buy from Custom Billet works. I don't think I want to try to take mine off the TP and reuse it. Now to find a matching extended heel shifter without having to buy the whole set.

The blue looks a bit better in these pictures, which I am glad.  Just traded my 12 CVO RG with 25,540 miles on it for the Blue.  Should be delivered today or Friday to the dealer.  I should have it Monday, as this afternoon I am ride out to Hot Springs AR for the week end.

While I am excited about the new bike, this is the first time I felt sick leaving them a CVO in trade.  I think my Skunk is the favorite bike I have ever owned.  And I have had other CVO RG's.

Dang dealer in Meridian, MS has the Black and Gold and asking 2K above MSRP. To heck with that; I'll be keeping mine at that rate.

The red is my choice in the RG, pinstriping is done very well especialy on the side covers.
Would have liked to see the Volt and Fuel gauge the same shape as the Tachometer and Speedo.
The round gauge look out of place not having the flat on the bottom.

There may be a thread on that subject here already Stu. If not, I'll post up what I've found so far having seen one torn apart at a dealer in STL getting a blackout treatment and also talking with a new owner at bike night the other night while examining first hand on why they're that way.

The bars are indeed pinned to prevent a lot of movement. You may get a little, and I mean very little forward roll out of them. With the radio being closer to the rider, too much forward roll on the bars will result in the bars hitting the radio housing on hard turns.

See now that just plain sucks a big one.. not being able to adjust the handlebars to fit and comfort of the rider, what were they thinking?

Not being on the design team or even knowing if the design team are actual riders, I'd have to guess that the main concern was getting the radio closer to the rider for ease of operation and the handlebar issue came into play after the final design of the new fairing. I'm not sure how to correct that issue unless they can somehow offset the handlebars back maybe a 1/4 or 1/2".

They are indeed taller. Mainly because the seat is also much thicker and taller.

I went up to Santa Fe HD today to pick up my '11 FLTRUSE.

I took a test ride on the '15 FLTRUSE. Nice ride. I would need a new rear suspension and a taller windshield to feel comfortable. Of course there is the new headers and the tuner require to kill the "cat".  The I got a ballpark for a trade on my '11 from the Sales Manager - about $20k .. high mileage did most of the damage.

I had the Parts Manager measure the handlebars on the RG Special and the FLTRUSE - same! Here are pics that I took while I was there.

I rode my '11 FLTRUSE the 65 miles back home.

My handlebars are perfect.
My suspension is perfect.
My windshield is perfect.
My motor is 97+hp with tons of torgue.
My ESP has 3 more years on it.
My maintenance is prepaid for the next 3 years.

I am going to keep my '11 FLTRUSE for 3 more years. Then I will look at new bikes or find a '15 FLTRUSE in Red that was a garage/trailer queen.

Oh and you all probably already knew this but the pinning of the handlebar is only at the controls. They are not pinned down by the interface to the fork, so there is plenty of up and down movement for adjustment in the handlebars. You just have to be conscious of the steering and keeping clear of the windshield. I think the bars pushed forward to max would work find for me.

Thanks for the pics of the orange and black!!  I'm trying to figure out what the colors look like. ie: is there any metallic or pearl in them.  How does it look in the sunlight??  I've seen the red one, the blue just not this one, which is the one I'm leaning towards.  It sucks traveling on Sunday as most dealership are closed….  Thanks in advance for more color info….

but if you pushed the bars forward to the max would the pins allow you to rotate the controls back enough to compensate?

So there is some adjustment in the controls but I don't know the definition of enough. When I demo's the bars were low and I felt like I was reaching down for cruise and volume. For my taste I could probably move the bars 4"closer to the windshield and not need to rotate the controls but I would have my arm sloped downward from shoulders to hands even with that adjustment. I am sure some will not get a good fit but likely the majority will be able to get fitted.

The black is gloss. I did not notice pearl or flake in the orange but did not get up close. From the drivers view it's all black. I think it looks better in the pictures than in person using indoor lighting. It is certainly not overstated like tequila sunrise. It is sedate, looks good but doesn't pop. I like the Red because it pops.

Rocket H-D (Huntsville AL) just got in a red '15.  I sat on it yesterday, but didn't test ride.  It sits lower than my '11 RG, and it seems like the center of gravity is lower too.  Not sure I liked the handlebar….it was as far back as it could be without the controls hitting the tank.  Seemed narrower than the '11 also.  Fairing area looks cleaner around the side air scoops.  Think I'll stick with mine……for now, at least.

everybody that has looked at the bike has said that.  but most of the people that have actually ridden it say they are pretty comfortable......   :nixweiss:

I've ridden the cvo and they suck

100% not adjustable as they are pinned in place. New seat moves you an inch forward.

If you are 6 ft or taller you will hate them

No need to worry so much over the bars. If you don't like them change them to something you do like and enjoy. So far that looks like the only mod to get the comfort we all want from these bikes as the seat looks very comfortable.

This ain't rocket science folks and we all have to change something to make the bike fit us. :2vrolijk_21: :bananarock:

What is not adjustable? Controls or movibg the bars forward or back? BTW, I am 6'4". Seat might be forward, not sure.

My dealer tells me the bars will rotate forward.  Hopefully that is enough for me.  If not, it will get Apes.  I will have to really put some miles on to know for sure on the stock bars pushed forward.

Mine was horrible when I picked it up...the bars were in my lap.  They DO adjust.  Yes, they have pins to keep from damaging the wires by rotating the bars too much but mine adjusted forward and are about in line with my forks.  The bars are now perfect!

Yes, I briefly fell for a 2014 Charcoal Pearl SGS and in a weak moment traded in my beloved 09 SERG.  Things were never the same.  I regretted the whole thing and to make matters worse, my boss went up and bought my SERG!  So now I had to endure the constant reminder.

I'm sometimes accused of being OCD.  I never washed the 14 SGS nor took any pics of it in the year I had it.  It only had 2000 miles on it as well.

I believe I can love this new Road Glide.

Sheesh!  It sounds like I'm talking about a girl!

Dave and others, kind of taking a liking to the new RGU.  Like the color much better than the Limiteds.  Guess a convert in progress.  Can one of you give me some idea how the airflow compares to the Limiteds with the stock higher windshield.  I'm 6' tall and looking through top of windshield.  I usually ride with passenger.  My local dealer has a 2013 RGU in their rental fleet.  Thinking about trying it for a day on twistys and interstate for comparison to my Limited.  Dave, I may have missed it but what dealer did you go to for your new bike?

I've owned the old style RG (2009 SERG) as well as a batwing (2014 SGS) and the old RG beats the batwing on air management and stability hands down in any weather or condition.  The new RG fairing beats the old RG fairing by the same or wider margin.  The new fairing puts the RG into (dare I say) Gold Wing territory when it comes to coast-to-coast rideability.  IMHO

I'm extremely impressed that there is air movement without buffeting.  Another thing that really impressed me is that you can put your feet up on the highway pegs and there is NO DIFFERENCE!!! No rush of air coming up, into your face from off your outstretched legs.  Those little deflectors seem to make a real difference too.

By all means...go rent a RG before buying.  Keep in mind though...some people just like the batwings more.

I wouldn't say they suck, but let me say that after seeing the carbon dust and autumn sunset and riding it when the demo truck stopped at our local HD dealership, I'm keeping my slate/black 2011 CVO RG Ultra.

To me the 2015 CVO RG Ultra seemed to sit lower even though the specs sheets say they have about the same seat height as the 2011.  I don't know how they did that since they put smaller 17/16 wheels instead of using 18/18 wheels that they had on the 2011 CVO RG Ultra.  But being a tall person, it seemed too low for me.

I was real close to trading up before I saw and rode it.  I just didn't see $40K worth of bike.  Yes they now have the Rushmore features, but they took some things away such as the special graphics designs that they added to the previous CVOs, and the more stylish shifter and brake levers.  One other thing that bothered me was that the inner fairing just seems too plain now.  I guess I like gauges to look at and that is something I probably could get used to after a while.  Since there is not really any special graphics or paint schemes, the new CVO RG looks like a RG Ultra Limited (if one existed) with the 110 engine and chrome wheels and forks.  I'm afraid these will take a huge hit after they are a couple years old since they really don't stand out in any way.

I'm not saying the bike is bad but for me the new seating position and bars suck it also puts me in an awkward position vis a vis the rear brake

Don't care for the fixed lowers either. I rode three cvo's. RG limited and SG,  all three had the Rushmore setup and all three we're hot as heck.

All three went into rear cylinder shutdown at lights every single time

Now that you mention that, I had the same problem with the rear brake pedal when I demoed it.

After being a member of this forum for a few years and reading the posts right after a new year bike comes out, I'm always amused by the naysayers that jump on the bikes to criticize and say how the bike "sucks" and how their older models are so much better.  Sometimes they make these assessments after a brief test ride and sometimes they form an opinion from little more than pictures.

What many of us find out when we buy one of these bikes is that they are predictably different and foreign to us compared to our old steeds.  They don't fit us as well.  We forget that we had to go through several seats, handlebars, and windshields to achieve nirvana on our old bikes.

What surprises me most about my new bike is the fact that it fits me pretty well after only adjusting the handlebars up and out of my lap.  The windshield is damn near perfect and I may need to move the back rest back a notch but all in all...I'm pretty satisfied with it.

Not so much the new bikes sucking as it is i don't want to go through all the bs to get it to fit me right. I'm riding a 12 so I'm sitting on the sidelines for awhile. Takes a lot of time and money to get the bars, seat, suspension, etc to fit my 5'6" frame. My 12 is all set. Glad you love your new ride.

Both Beemer and Jswerve have great points.

The 14 and 15's have a lot of improvements.

But for most of us, it costs a lot more money to make them fit.

It always seems it 15-20K to trade and to a lot of us it is not worth it (unless you are fortunate to have deep pockets)..

Each of us has to do what is best for us.  I would not have gotten rid of my 10 for the 14 if it hadn't been for the accident.  Yes, the 14 is improved in a lot of ways, but was perfectly content with the 10..   The 14 is not $15-20K better than the 10..

The bars are pined, they only allow 1/4 inch movement.  However remove the pin and they are much more comfortable if you are tall.  Had mine done before I rode her home on Monday.

Well said!

Dave you do mean the controls are pinned, right.
The controls and the lower part of the bar Simon. Guys on the RoadGlide forum are talking about how they removed their lower pin with a pair of small vise grips or by knocking it in further with a center punch to be able to roll the bars forward. Seem nobody has bother to take a pix of it yet though. A pix I posted shows the pins in the controls area.

No, I mean the bars are pinned at the clamp under the gages at the on the handle bar clamp to the forks.

Sorry I did not think to get a pic.  You are correct the pin was pulled out with vise grips.  Works like a champ.

I think it may be in another thread but here it is for this one. The pins you see are near the controls to prevent rolling the controls too far and chaffing the wires.

The bars are pined, they only allow 1/4 inch movement.  However remove the pin and they are much more comfortable if you are tall.  Had mine done before I rode her home on Monday.

That looks awesome!!!  looks very comfortable, like mini-apes.  This is a mod everybody is going to be doing, I still say those CVO bars are taller than the stock bars the non CVO RG has.

How's the pullback now that you moved them forward, reach is good?

There is zero difference from what I can tell between the RG Special bars and the SERGU bars, I have rode both.

Rotated up like this they are pretty good, 300 miles is the most I have had a chance to do in a day.  I will run it to Daytona and back before I decide if I am Putting Paul Yaffee OEM Monkey bars 14" on it like I had on the skunk and like is on my CVO King

OK, my plan is to be there Wednesday until Friday afternoon.  So you may sit on her to see if you like the bars.

Don't care for the fixed lowers either. I rode three cvo's. RG limited and SG,  all three had the Rushmore setup and all three we're hot as heck.

All three went into rear cylinder shutdown at lights every single time

the eitms parameters have changed with the 2014 and newer.  instead of relying on cht, they now use ambient temp as one of the parameters.  if ambient temp is >80*, eitms kicks in.

So you don't roll the bars too far forward and hit the radio while in a tight maneuver.

We have been able to figure that out for years so why do it now? No different then making sure the bars don't hit the gas tank when turning left or right?  :nixweiss:

The new radio is closer to the rider than the old style. It was never an issue with the old radio housing.

Lol... Nvmd Mike I think we are misunderstanding each other here. All I am saying is we can figure out whether or not it's going to hit something just like we always have.

Yea, I do not like that, should have still been tied to engine temp like in the past.

Very true.  Removed that pin on mine, move the bars way forward and they are not close to hitting anything.

My guess is they did it so people would not pinch or cut the cables.  There is lots of room for bar adjustment with out hitting anything.
