The bars are pined, they only allow 1/4 inch movement.  However remove the pin and they are much more comfortable if you are tall.  Had mine done before I rode her home on Monday.

After being a member of this forum for a few years and reading the posts right after a new year bike comes out, I'm always amused by the naysayers that jump on the bikes to criticize and say how the bike "sucks" and how their older models are so much better.  Sometimes they make these assessments after a brief test ride and sometimes they form an opinion from little more than pictures.

What many of us find out when we buy one of these bikes is that they are predictably different and foreign to us compared to our old steeds.  They don't fit us as well.  We forget that we had to go through several seats, handlebars, and windshields to achieve nirvana on our old bikes.

What surprises me most about my new bike is the fact that it fits me pretty well after only adjusting the handlebars up and out of my lap.  The windshield is damn near perfect and I may need to move the back rest back a notch but all in all...I'm pretty satisfied with it.
Well said!

The controls and the lower part of the bar Simon. Guys on the RoadGlide forum are talking about how they removed their lower pin with a pair of small vise grips or by knocking it in further with a center punch to be able to roll the bars forward. Seem nobody has bother to take a pix of it yet though. A pix I posted shows the pins in the controls area.

No, I mean the bars are pinned at the clamp under the gages at the on the handle bar clamp to the forks.

Sorry I did not think to get a pic.  You are correct the pin was pulled out with vise grips.  Works like a champ.

I think it may be in another thread but here it is for this one. The pins you see are near the controls to prevent rolling the controls too far and chaffing the wires.

That looks awesome!!!  looks very comfortable, like mini-apes.  This is a mod everybody is going to be doing, I still say those CVO bars are taller than the stock bars the non CVO RG has.

How's the pullback now that you moved them forward, reach is good?

There is zero difference from what I can tell between the RG Special bars and the SERGU bars, I have rode both.

Rotated up like this they are pretty good, 300 miles is the most I have had a chance to do in a day.  I will run it to Daytona and back before I decide if I am Putting Paul Yaffee OEM Monkey bars 14" on it like I had on the skunk and like is on my CVO King

Love to be able to sit on your bike only and check those out in the Valley Dave. See if I wanna fool with moving mine up or not.
