Gotcha, thanks. I should have went back a read the whole thread but I've read so many of them in the last couple weeks I lose track. We'll see, I think we're riding to Vegas next weekend so that should make it pretty clear.

That was my issue even with the stock one rolled forward, just was never comfortable with the wrist angle.  Hands would fall asleep often.  Wrist angle on these new bars is great.  Even on 12 hour days my hands only fell asleep a couple times.  They would fall asleep several times in a 5 hour ride with the stock bars.

I was thinking about this thread today. Been riding 11 hour days the last three days with my pin pulled and bars rolled forward. Purposely didn't set cruise most of the day today with zero hand sleeping issues (I have had them in the past with other setups just for comparison). Didn't you change seats? If so, wouldn't that change things a little?

Rode today for three or four hours up Hwy 2 and no issues at all with my new bar position post-pin pulling. I loved it, the bike handled like it's supposed to and my hands felt great. Certainly worth a try to all who are considering new bars.

I just went thru the process of pulling the pin on my '15.  The guys are right, it's an easy process but the most complicated part should not have been complicated at all but it's been made complicated by a marginal (at best) design, and that's the removal of the chrome "horseshoe" under the ignition switch.  What a pain.  I didn't break mine like some have done (thankfully!) but I sure was afraid I would.
I decided to use a marks-a-lot black ink pen to put a witness mark on the side of the handlebar clamp and then on top of my handlebar so I could see where it was positioned at stock.  (This witness mark also helped me to re-center the handlebars before tightening them down).  Then I put them where I wanted them and partially tightened the clamp.  Turns out I'd rolled the handlebars upward/forward about 3/32 of an inch at most per the witness mark, but the grips moved up substantially, perhaps 2 inches or so.  So far I like them in the new higher position, but I will need to put some miles on it before deciding whether or not to move them again, and which direction.

I really thought I was just being an idiot dealing with this struggle. It's truly a WTF moment when you figure it out!!!

I never could get mine back in. Had to take it to the dealer for some other things so asked the, to do it. I compromised the plastic pin to the point of making it useless. They replaced it for me at no charge.

I actually got the horseshoe thing fairly easily thanks to the rest of you guys screwing it up. :D

Harry, a small amount at the clamp translates like you said to a fairly big deal at the grips. I did have to loosen and reposition the levers etc...

My dealers has several (7) 15's still available (all colors) and I'm considering one of them.  I'm currently on a CVO Road King and have 13" mini apes.  I've taken a demo of of the RGU and don't think I could live with the bars.  I found these for those who may still be interested.

I like the ones from road 6 customs and will get those if I decide to pull the trigger.

Yes, changing the seat will change things, such as my seating hight, which is about 2 inches lower, about 1 inch back also.  So makes bars feel taller.  Do not believe it changes the wrist angle.

Hi Dave,
After using those factory 47 handlebars for few months what is your opinion now? I am considering them as yaffes are still asking for a 60 days waiting period.
did you purchase any wiring or cables from the dealer to install them?

Wow, I am sure glad I gave up on Waiting on the Paul Yaffes.  I love them too, had them on my 12 SERG and have the Yaffe 14 on my SERK.

I really like the Factory 47 Bars.  I have over 12K miles on these bars now.  They are very comfortable and they look very good.  I would definitely get these again before putting up with the forever wait for the Paul Yaffe bars.

The factory 47 14" are about 2 inches shorter then the Yaffe 14", as Yaffe runs tall, about 15.25, and the Factory 47 14 are about 13.5.  No cables on wire purchased, was able to use all stock wiring and cables.

Thanks for all the information Dave.
While ordering bars from the factory 47 website they ask us if we are using the factory controls. You had mentioned in your post that you had ordered them without the pins for handlebar controls. Is it related to that? Could you explain that as I am totally confused.
Thanks.

Yes, its all related.  The 2015 Road Glide and 2015 road glide special have hand controls that are very different than are on our 2015 CVO Road Glide Ultras.  The 2015 RG and RGS have pins in their hand controls that go into slots in the handle bars.  This only allows so much rotation of the controls.  The handle bars have to have holes or slots at the controls to accommodate this.

Sounds like something new has been added to their web site.  There was no choice when I order, which is why I called.  My guess would be non factory hand controls on the web site.  I would call them and ask to be 100% sure.

The 2015 CVO does not have pins in the hand controls.  The CVO handle bars do not have holes for this.

If you order the regular Factory 47 bars, when you install your CVO hand controls you will have holes visible on both the left and right side near your CVO controls.

I had to call them and let them know I did not want any holes in the bars for or near the hand controls.

As an update to my previous post #63, I've put a fair amount of miles on the bike now with the handlebars rotated upwards about 2" over the stock position.
I do like them better now.  The feel is more sure, the handling seems more lively, and when the bike's parked it makes it a lot easier to turn the wheel if I need to.  Also, my fingers on my right hand don't fall asleep near as badly as they used to, but I'm beginning to think that may be a combination of handlebar angle and the new grips on these RGU's, that seem to put pressure right against a blood vessel that carries blood to a couple of my fingers.  Or at least that's what I'm thinking has been going on, as I've never had this problem before in my life.  It's been a weird dilemma, but it seems to have been lessened by rotating the bars up.   :nixweiss:
