Towing a SEUC on a Dual Axel Trailor
« on: June 16, 2008, 01:36:52 PM »

I will be towing Kaspr to Northern New Mexico in a couple of weeks and I have mounted a front wheel support that locks the front wheel in place on the trailer. I will also be using tie downs for the front and rear of bike. My question is I should try to cover the bike with the CVO bike cover or just leave the bike exposed on the trailer. Any suggestions on towing would be helpful.

P.S.          We would much rather ride the bike but I have allot of things I need to take up to my cabin.

1st, the supplied CVO cover is an indoor only cover.
2nd you will damage the bike with a cover flapping around.

Leave the cover off. Unless you were to shrink wrap it, the other cover will flap against the painted parts and rub the paint.

That was my feeling exactly about not putting anything on it. I am sure to run into rain but oh well she will get a good bath. Thanks all!!

I put an outdoor cover on my gold wing for a trip to FLA on an open trailer.  Not only did it wear on the paint, it ripped the cover to shreds.

Yep, I learned the hard way.  Back when I was involved in fishing bass tournaments I learned that the cover would damage the $36K boat and the boat would damage the $700 cover.

Best option is to put the bike in an enclosed trailer, then you don't have to worry about wet roads getting the clean scooter all dirty (really dirty) or the dreaded gravel chips :o  If you will be using a open trailer, it would be advisable to have some sort of screen across the front of the trailer to shield the bike if there is not already one on the trailer.

There are covers made especially for covering a bike in tow.

Here's one:
