2000 CVO Road Glide
« on: August 12, 2008, 09:32:15 AM »

I had the chance to take a look at a 2000 Screamin' Eagle Road Glide (FLTRSEI). Bike appears basically stock and has under 15,000 miles on it.

I've been looking for a Road Glide but had been thinking of a newer one with the 6 speed. This bike caught my eye due to the color (various shades of red) and condition.

Any thoughts or comments about these bikes in general or what a "fair" price might be?

The 2000 triple red Road Glide is one of a small handfull of the very best paint schemes Harley ever laid on a bike.  In some ways the 2000 SERGs are what started the SE/CVO line's much wider popularity.  If you're interested in a red SERG and are anywhere within range of the Mid Atlantic area check out the for sale section to look at Carlos' bike recently listed for sale.  Would be difficult to find a more pristine example of a nearly flawless bike for sale.

A pure unbiased opinion?   ;D  You forgot the important facts:  1) Red bikes go faster  2) They look better sitting still.

Get one as close to stock as possible. Look for the bag liners, rider and passenger backrests, chopped tourpack, lowers, exhaust with shark fin end caps, dust cover, rear pegs...anyone else care to add to the list ?  Doc

I remember this paint when the bikes were new and I thought they were great looking at that time.  They have "aged" very well!!!

I've looked at Carlos' bike several times and it does look pristine.  Only potential problem is that I'm sitting just a few miles north of you up in the Kansas City area.

Thanks for your thoughts!!

Ride safe and often.

So that is where I've been going wrong!!   ;D

I realized after reading your post that I've never had a truly red bike.  My first bike (1956 Zundapp) was sort of a maroon and I also had a 1993 Yamaha GTS (the one with the Jim Parker suspension) that was sort of a red.

I'm so ashamed...I need to correct this right away!!

That is no problem.  If Howie can buy a bike in California, we can get you hooked up with Carlos.

Thanks for the list and the thoughts about it being unmodded.  Along those lines are there any mechanical issues beyond the usual items on a 8-10 year old bike that a person would look for/at that I should be concerned about.  If I remember correctly these bikes were some of Harley's earlier FI offerings...any potential issues there?

If I'm in the market for red SERG right now, that bike of Carlos' is a no-brainer.  Somebody buy the bike! :soapbox: ;D

I just went and looked at Carlos' post...his bike is incredible.  If it was just a few miles nearer to KC I'd be taking some time off from work to get a closer look.  It is still on my list but I've got a lead on one that is closer and looks pretty clean.
