Whats the most comfortable seat for a Tall Road Glide rider?
« on: December 10, 2009, 02:19:30 PM »

I am 6' 4" tall with a 36" inseam,  I have the OME seat on my Triple Red SERG.  It is a fairly comfortable seat for a ride of about 3 hrs. or so but then the "Numb Bum" starts to set in and I am constantly trying to adjust myself back it seems.  I am unable to use the driver backrest as it pushes me to far forward and makes for an uncomfortable riding position.  I would love to find a seat that raises me up a couple of inches and back a couple of inches, and was wondering if any of my knowledgeable tallish friends on the site might have some experience (good or bad) that might help me find that Perfect Seat.

Thanks
Marty :pepper:

Have you tried a Hammock?

I bought one and I like the comfort but I don't like that increased seat height.

I haven't yet tried a different seat,  but I am considering getting a new seat and wanted to research it as much as possible before I start buying "the wrong seats".  So I thought public opinion is a good start. :nixweiss:

The HD signature for bikes from 09 up is very good and pushes you up about 1" but you have to check whether you could modify the mounting (it is vice versa at the "before09ers" but maybe possible )
51700-09 is the number including the rider backrest , the passenger pillon is 51770-09

I have gathered that by the other numerous threads dedicated to just that opinion, and don't intend on putting that seat on my 2000.  I just feel that there could be a more comfortable seat than the stock seat from 2000 and I am researching to find a better alternative.  I think the Key is that being tall as I am, I am looking for a seat that helps me gain a bit of leg room to streach out a bit.

If you want to make sure it fit you need to look into the Russell Day Long seat. They custom build it to your height, weight, etc..

:orange:  You know I sort of got that same problem!  I'm 6'5" tall with a 38" inseam and my wife is 6' with a 36 inseam!  Yeah we know our kidds are gonna be tall, well that ain't gonna happen.  No kids in the future just lots of riding to do!  I agree the stock seat sucks and I am looking at the C&C tour saddle custom built. :orange:

You think we look funny on the Srg with long legs!  You should see us when we step out of our 1976 Fuel Injected VW Bug.  Lowered 2.5" in the front and has a california rake.  The roof comes up just below my chest!  lol!  And then there is the softail, Whew two sets of long legs on that!  kinda reminds me of the old chopper days when she can just wrap them around me no back rest needed!

Still looking for that perfect seat also!

I too have long legs and was thinking about trying out the Le Pera Maverick/Daddy Long Legs seat. They have a program where they will send you a seat of your choice and all you do is try it out and send it back. You pay for shipping both ways (and for the basic price of a vinyl covered seat), if you like it you can then discuss seat cover material, stitching, ect ect ect. If you don't like it your only out the shipping and they credit you card back for the standard price of the seat. I wish someone had one so I could get some feed back. Check out there website.

I did the Le Pera demo seat and it was really nice to try it.  They sent out an uncovered seat and I paid shipping both ways + $25 prep fee.  It was well worth it.  They also provide a paper form with the seat to allow you to customize different aspects of it like having the padding cut a different way.
