Speakers not working
« on: May 07, 2020, 08:34:35 AM »

I have a  2014 CVO Limited with stock radio and speakers. Haven't ridden in a while (3 moths) due to COVID-19 and finally got on the bike yesterday. Noticed that 2 of my speakers (front right and back left) are not working. I swapped the back speakers around and the issue is not the speakers. Could it be a problem with amp? Wiring? Has this happened to anyone else? Thanks in advance.

Could be a loose wire connection at the amp.

Did you check the balance and fader settings?

I'm guessing it's the amp. No way can you adjust the fader and balance  to kill off opposite speakers at the same time..

One thing you can try is pulling the stereo fuse and see if that does any kind of reset.

On my CVO there's two separate amps one for the front and one for the back it would seem odd one channel went out on each at the same time

The amps are the same front and rear and will interchange. In my `15 Street Glide, had a right faring speaker go bad swapped sides to like above to verify, replaced it and later left bag speaker stopped working switched sides speaker was ok. swapped amps, one channel on amp went out. New amp plays normally after more dough thanks H.D. Mo. Co.!

For the guys talking about the street Glides, the limited and rgu (Ultras) only come with one amp.

Sent from my boring Droid phone.

OP stated he has a CVO, that would have at least two amps and four speakers.

I would first run an audio test to confirm the speakers are wired correctly.  The test will send a tone to one speaker at a time while giving you a visual cue as which speaker should be audible.

This will confirm that the left and right channels are wired correctly. It just seems odd that you have a failure in opposing channels from back to front.

Then check to see if the bike is showing any error codes for amp or other audio items .

This will give you some insight as to what might be going on.

Same problem on my 14 CVO Limited, 1 AMP.  AMP was bad, bike has ESP, $50 deductible and I was out the door. If you do not have ESP, you're looking at $450 plus installation or install it yourself (too easy)
