Talimena Parkway 1 not on MapSource!?!?!?
« on: June 12, 2008, 11:02:59 AM »

Trying to do my first trip/route with the Zumo today from Denton, TX to FT Smith, AR but couldn' find the Talimena Parkway on MapSource!  I found the Queen Wilhemina Park but no roads to/from?  Am I just doing something wrong?  This is a famous road I have ridden many times-it has been there for many years... Thanks Naitram!  I set the detail to "highest" and zoomed in to 1 mile.  It shows as "1" in OK and "88" in AR.

I've found even though some roads are famous for a certain name Mapsource might not know/recognize it. If you know the Route Number/Road Name you might have better luck finding it. Also setting your view detail to highest (as you found out) will allow you to see/find a lot more information when you zoom in.

last year, it did not know about the Natchez Trace through Jackson, MS.  The GPS had the road ending and then picking up again about 10 miles later...

Mapquest 2009 clearly shows the Trace through Jackson.  However, my Zumo did the same thing yours did and tried to route me through Jackson.  Don't know why but I figured that would be a good oppurtunity to get off the Trace for gas and food.  As we crossed over the road that was to take us into Jackson I looked down and saw traffic backed up to a stand still so we just stayed on the Trace.  That was a week or so ago.

Yes, you do get a Mapsource Disk...but a new version just came out and I downloaded the free upgrade to NT2009.  Worked for the Zumo but not the Mapsource software.  I e-mailed requesting a disk.

That may have been because of all the construction in that area.  For several years (yes, years) you did have to exit the Trace at Jackson.  Don't know how long it has been re-opened but not as long as it was closed for sure.
