« on: July 05, 2008, 12:57:10 PM »

New software download

Changes made from version 3.70 to 3.80:
Improved compatibility with 512MB data card
Improved map display when both internal maps and maps on a data card are visible
Improved unit behavior when a blank data card is inserted
Improved display of battery charge level

And a little bonus

This update will also upgrade the software in your GXM30 antenna to version 2.30.

I actually had done it on the 478 for the boat and forgot to do the unit on the bike.  :nixweiss: Duh!

Now I don't know. I'll have to check tomorrow. What was yours doing? I thought mine displayed the battery life remaining as a time.

you can view the battery several ways - actual voltage, a graphic "battery" with a decreasing "charge" and a time remaining. Mine always reads 0 or dead.

It was not a problem with the 478 I sent out for repair, only on the replacement unit. The software update was supposed to solve that  problem.

Even when I know it is fully charged it shows that the battery is dead.

Well I've got 2 units so I'll check both of them tomorrow.

Damn Duane, you were right. I looked at one of the units this afternoon and the battery meter doesn't work. I checked it with power on then unplugged. I also checked it in the main menu page and same thing. So much for a fix.

Duane, have you noticed any other problems w/ your 478 after the download besides the battery icon? I've been experiencing a lot of "lost satellites" errors popping up lately. Not being able to find itself.

No AJ, only the battery issue. I did notice though, that is watch the satellite screen and move the antenna up you pickup more sats.  I use to keep the antenna down or level. But pointed up it sometimes doubled the number of "in view" sats and decreased the SNR across the board.

Thanks, I'll give that a try in the car / truck / boat.
With the new Klock Werks w/s though it can only go out to the right. The lip of the w/s it too close and it hits.

Oh, and you can sometimes see the "accuracy circle" when moving the antenna. Playing around with it the other day I saw the accuracy go from 28' to 6' just by moving the antenna.
