non-stock radio antenna
« on: July 18, 2008, 11:23:09 PM »

I want to take the antenna off my tour pack but still get reception. I am sure many of you have done it, what's the best aftermarket antenna to use and mount inside the fairing? Any other suggestions? :2vrolijk_21:

by the way I do have sirius satellite but I still like the local stuff once in awhile....while on that subject any one got pictures of the way they mounted sirius or xm units?

The TuneTrapper is the best hidden antenna in my opinion

I just installed a Tune Trapper, since my tour-pak antenna fell off, and I get far better radio reception....

Did you mount inside the fairing? How difficult was it (time) and where did you get the Tune-Trapper?

I have used three tune trappers. Two did not work for crap on my aftermarket radio. The third one worked great on the stock radio. Two bikes side by side, one worked one didn't. Go figure!  :nixweiss:

LOL after I couldn't get the tune trapper to work I went with the Dakota digital, not much better. I still have it in the Harley parts box. I went back to a visible antenna and gave up on trying to use a hidden antenna. Now I'd imagine in the populated areas these antennas work great, not out here in the woods. :)

I tried a Dakota Digital on my 04 SEEG, but had terrible reception and removed it...   :nixweiss:

I have a tune trapper. Worse then stock setup with a 12" rubber antenna.

Left it in the fairing as a place to tie wrap the speaker crossovers  :2vrolijk_21:
