Guess Garmin just made a fibber of me.  Went to Mapsource and software download and worked fine.  But that new 6.14.1 looks a lot different and responds much slower that the previous version.  More resolution I guess.

Have you checked the detail level? Set it much above medium and it really slows the system down.

The update in Mapsource has never worked it gives error messages when you try to use it. You have to download the update directly from the Garmin site.

It's more then that. For some reason the newest update requires a really fast computer/processor (as noted here on the Zumo Forum) and has caused problems on some computers.

Consider yourself one of the few/lucky ones this is a known bug... (quote below from Garmin Zūmo® GPS Wiki)

Mapsource & the Zumo

[Q] If I select /Help / check on software updates (in Mapsource), it does not give me the latest version
[A] This function does not work properly in Mapsource (bug). Best thing is to get the latest version from the Garmin.com website http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=209 or
http://www8.garmin.com/support/download.jsp and install it manually.
