I have had one since they came out. Absolutely love it. Does everything you could ask for in a smart phone. .the navigation app is great. Pandora radio is a favorite! Riders claw will have a HD handlebar mount in 2-3 weeks as well.

Have the Droid 2.  I need a slide out keyboard as I fat finger the screen keyboards way too bad.

I love mine.  Pandora rocks.  The navigation is great althought a route option to go the way you want rather then the way it wants to send you would be handy.  I'm planning making the rider's claw the top item on my Christmas list.  All in all a great device and another nail in the coffin for satalite radio... at least for me!

I have both.  My personal cell phone is an HTC Hero Droid, which I love and enjoy the heck out of, and my work phone is a Crack Berry 9700.  It's okay, but prefer the Droid.  Unfortunately, work says I gotta carry the Crack Berry.  :(

Had the Droid Incredible and now the X.  Both are great but the screen on the X is fabulous.  There is an online, pdf owners' manual that is a must read.  Also, the "Tips and Tricks" app is worth reading.  There are so many shortcuts to learn but it's worth it.  The google gps & nav are better than in my F-150 or Porsche!  Waiting on the Rider's Claw Mount too.  I have added Pandora, Country Radio, Google Earth, Google Skymap (Very cool), Bing, The HTC clock and weather widgets, Earthquake (for here on the West Coast), Lookout Mobile security (featured in the Verizon commercials)m Advanced task killer (helps with the battery), some guitar apps and EBay android.  All work well.   The camera if very good too.  Gave up my pocket camera....

Nice to see all the positive comments on the Droid X as I'm thinking about upgrading.
Heck - I still use an original Razr 3  :)

I guess having a phone - to actually USE AS A PHONE - is considered caveman mentality these days eh? lol

I have the regular droid, nice. Only have one real issue, the mini plug jack is so poorly made I can't use it on the bike, cuts out or too much static.

I found that there are a small number of apps with Harley themes, some wallpapers, mostly mediocre, and most are paid.

In other words, nothing particularly worthwhile that I've come across yet.  I do think MOCO has an iPhone app so maybe they will come out with something soon?

If you go to Phonezoo.com you can get downloadable ringtones of various types.  There are some HD sounds, mostly engines.  It's free.  The only adds I've gotten are on screen in the PC.  Nothing to the phone.

Had a BB Storm and moved to the original Droid (rooted and themed) about a year ago and couldn't be happier with the change. I have an early upgrade available and and the "X" is on my short list along with the Fascinate. The only thing holding me back is the LTE (4G) coming out soon.

I have had the original Motorola Droid since two day after Verizon released it.  It has been great to me so far.  I am not sure weather I will upgrade to the Motorola Droid X or the Droid 2.  Either way it will be another motorola droid.

I was shown two apps for the Droid that you may think are cool.  One is called RingLert which allows you to download songs as ringtones for free. You can have a different ringtone for each contact.  The second is called Gesture search.  It allows you to write with your finger on the touch screen to search contacts.  Both are free applications available from the Android Marketplace.

Didn't take too long.

My droid is starting to choke, on either apps or memory.

I have gotten several messages about the lack of storage, not specific as to whether it was apps or files.

Started deleting stuff.

That and sometimes takes a bit of time to go back to the home screen. At times I just have the wallpaper displayed and wait for the apps to pop back up.

I haven't expereinced anything like that Duane.  I assume you've got it set to download pics, movies or music to the card and not the internal memory.  I know my sister in laws Android (Not a droid but still a Google Android OS) was acting similar and moving all that stuff to mem card helped quite a bit.

The Droid Incredible and earlier models have a replaceable 2gig mini SDS card.  I replaced mine with a 16gig card.  The "X" comes with the 16 gig card.  That will clear up these issues.

Mine came with the 16GB card  :nixweiss:

Just checked the phone:
SD card - total space 14.93GB, available 6.42GB
Internal phone settings:
29.2MB available space

Would think 29 MB's was enough, but maybe not.

I still get a blue screen all the time (wall paper is blue) with a delay in the apps popping back up.

29 Mb is a little tight for it.  It uses page files for memory (writes the processing memory to the storage memory) and that can eat up 29mb pretty quick if you've got a lot of active content.  Try dumping some apps and see if it helps.

I have found Verizon to be the best coverage for East TN.  There are a few dead spots with it, mainly if you drop down into a holler.  I know I have coverage where my daughter does not with Sprint.  I have yet to be with her when she sprint has coverage and Verizon does not.  The lake I live on, Watts Bar Verizon beats all other carriers for coverage.

There are some areas of Deals gap I loose coverage.  However most places, especially where I would stop on the bike I do have coverage.

We should have our 1st lot back from chrome in about 1 week.  Only ran a small quantity to test the market demand for the Droid X and Droid Incredible.
Also in the process of making a new backplate that will allow the various Rider's Claw faceplates to pivot so they can be adjusted to to a more comfortable view.
These won't be out for a few more weeks, but any Droid X or Incredible purchases now will be sent the new adjustable backplate (free) to replace the standard backplate when the yare ready.

The HTC EVO, Droid 1, Droid 2 (in that order) are scheduled next.
Realistically... 4-5 weeks from being available, but I'll let you know when they are.

I have resisted reading this thread, but unfortunately i couldn't hold out any longer.  I have the original DROID and I love it.  It's a little heavy, and i get duplicate, triplicate e-mails or alerts with the google e-mail address, but other than that, it's been great!  I have an upgrade, and i have been going back and forth between the DROID X and the Samsung Facinate.  I was really leaning towards the Facinate to try something new even though i prefer the Google apps verson Bing.  I am trying to be patient, I hear that Verizon will be coming out with an upgraded version of the INCREDIBLE, something similar to the Sprint EVO which from what i understand is a fantastic unit for those that maximize the use of a smartphone.  Verizon is launching 4G and they are supposed to inroduce 4G phones in December.....

Anyone know how to delete apps? The uninstaller works on some. I want to lose the always running ones like skype and city ID. Battery life will be vastly improved....

Go to market, click on settings, then downloads, once there click on the app you want to remove and you should see "Uninstall" at bottom of screen... click on unistall and follow prompts.

Ok if you want to root your Droid X so you can remove the preloaded blot ware that comes on it and burns space and kills memory, you need to go to the market and download the Z4Root and install.  This gives you root access to the OS.  Warning you can brick your phone if you do not follow instructions.  Then download Root Explorer, this program is not free, but is cheap.  Then you can "rename" not delete the files for the blot ware you want to remove. More Complete ins are here http://www.droidforums.net/ not all droids are created equal, I would reseach which phone you buy before you buy it if you plan on making bigger changes to the os.
