The faux ostrich was a great touch, tying the bags and seat together.

Enjoy the ride, but be very careful how you treat that work of art........you've got to enter it into some bike shows now with all that custom work.  I can see a trophy cabinet in your future.  8) har!  spyder

Here's the blade parked next to LarryB's gorgeous scoot at the Eureka Springs CVO rally last Saturday. Hard to believe we're already back. 1,600 miles sure goes by quick.

Think this may be the first picture in this long thread of me on the bike. Taken by Ditch in downtown Eureka Springs. Yes, I bought it to ride. Have ridden almost 6K miles since I purchased it last year and it sat in the garage for nearly 6 months waiting out the winter.

How'd the new bags do on the trip?  :) spyder

Spydglide, they held everything I needed and even expanded a bit as we hit HD dealers on the way down and back (11 in all). We hit a few hours of rain just south of Minneapolis on the way down and they got soaked. Was afraid they might stain but they dried out well. They got a lot of attention. Money well spent. They really make the bike a one off.

BE,

First of all we are all impressed at what you've done to your "dream Switchblade", but now that I've learned that you actually RODE the 1,600 miles, I'm even more impressed!  Good for you!

I must confess, the first CVO gathering that I went to in Maggie Valley, my "Blade" was in a covered trailer.  Since then I added the bags and tour pak and I now ride it everywhere!

Take care of your baby. Now ride safe and ride often!

Buffy, thanks for the comments! I have been dreaming of owning this bike for 8 years and my dream was always to buy it to ride it. I am always dismayed when I see one of these fine machines for sale with under a few thousand miles. The owners never got to experience the real joy of owning such a fine ride, taking it out on the road for an extended trip. I was one of the few street bikes at Eureka Springs and, although I love the touring bikes, I just can't see myself riding anything other than the blade, at least for a few years. Sure you felt the same when you got yours.

BE

It was great to meet you in E.S.  And I finally got to gawk at you machine. She is definitely one off. I could see how much you loved putting her together just the way you wanted her. Now you get to enjoy your labor of love.

BD - great to meet you and your future wife (now that she caught the bouquet) as well. A great group of folks sharing a common passion in an ideal location. Doesn't get much better than that! See you down the road!

On the trip to and from Eureka Springs, I got more comments on the frame mounted storage tube than any other item on the bike. Nobody seemed to know what it was. In reality, it is a large piece of chrome that holds an incredibly small amount of stuff for what it costs but it sure is a conversation starter!

The LED fuel gauge isn't supposed to work on the 01 WG but I found a service manager at Sun HD in Denver who says he knows how to make it work. Plan is to conference him on with my local service manager and let them work it out. Should look sharp on the bike when finished.
