Been looking for the right highlight for the saddle bag accessory pouches. Found these. Started out as keychains. Not sure they are the final solution. May need to be painted gold and red as the bronze doesn't quite do it.

Opinions?

There are four pouches, two smaller ones on the front and two larger ones on the back. This is one of the small front ones. Had to curve the medallion and put it on the lid. The larger one had room on the main surface.

Took the front fork tool bag off The Beast the other day for a good post Sturgis cleaning and found this staring me in the face.

Had never really taken the time to notice that huge piece of unchromed real estate on the under side of the triple tree. Went to my wife's Deuce and noticed it had a nice chrome cover under there so thought it would be a no-brainer to get one for the Wide Glide. Not so! HD doesn't make a lower triple tree chrome cover for Dynas. Not being one to take no for an answer, I did some measuring and figured that a properly altered Softail cover (66053-01) should be an improvement so I acquired one of these.

45 minutes of work with the Dremel cutter and grinder got me half way there.

Had to use my neighbors large vise to put a bend on the leading edge as the way it was, there was a 1/4" gap between the bottom and the top chrome covers, not acceptable. I was lucky the bend wasn't so radical that the chrome plating was damaged.

Another 30 minutes with the Dremel (second half of projects always go faster) and we had our customized piece of bling.

you'll have to re-chrome it anyway since it's gonna rust where you cut it thru the chroming.  It'll be worth the time & money when it's gleaming under there tho.  :coolblue: Looks great right now  :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21: har.  :drink: spyder

The wings don't extend quite far enough to cover the whole area but it is a vast improvement over all that cast metal. Finished it off with a custom flamed bolt head cover and we're good to go! Too bad that once the fork tool bag goes back on, this little project will return to anonymity. Always enjoy the little touches, especially when I get to put my own ideas into the mix.

The Beast never stays wet or dirty for long enough for rust to set in.

You know I love the details. Had found a HD pin that was the same double flame pattern as the primary, inspection, timer, and horn covers on my bike and found a use for it on the project I undertook to mount the CVOHarley challenge coin to my frame but it eventually got replaced when I found another piece I liked better. Always did like this pin though, just hadn't found the right place for it. Well, it came to me the other day when I was cleaning the windshield so I ordered up a new one from ebay - the world's largest continuously operating garage sale - and went to work customizing.

Photo of pin.

Picked up a stainless bolt and ground off 90% of the head, ground the pins off the back of the pin itself, mixed up a bit of epoxy and ended up here:
