Areo Wing Luggage Rack >> Re-vised
« on: October 10, 2010, 09:50:49 PM »

If you read my first post on adding the Areo Wing Rack you saw the photo below and my learning experience with AMP connectors.....Well, Not being one to leave well enough alone I was not happy with the quik disconnect I fashione into the chrome fender support so I went on a search and found a mil/medical spec connector from Alden http://www.aldenproducts.com/connector-cable-products/pulse-lok-pl-700sm-b-series-metal-shell-auto-coupling-connectors
and sourced one from StraightRoadElectronics.com  that would work better than the AMP connector and is waterproof and will look better... So here is my final install... (this pic is the original idea...)

Another view... Much cleaner looking when I cruise without the bags and babe bar...

A closer look... I used auto wire cover and a cable clamp from the softtail line to clamp the wire..

Connectin to the bike.... When connected the wire and the connector are hidden by the quick release sissybar sideplate.

Last pic... Been in all weather (cept snow...) for a month now and works flawlessly! To disconnect  reach one finger fron each end (front and back) and then 1/4 turn counterclockwise to unlock the connector and pull up!
