If you suspect the temp gauge is wrong, you can check it by heating some water and putting a regular thermometer, in it and you oil temp gauge to, see if they read the same.

It looks like the leak may be the base of the rear cylinder.  I had the dealer install the dye so that when I bring it in on Friday it should be obvious what the source of the leak is going to be.
They told me to ride a minimum of 200 miles.....like getting a prescription for fun.

There has been at least one case of a leak at the base of the rear cylinder, but I don't remember who it was.

took bike in on 6/25, picked up on 6/27, next day noticed base was leaking. :confused5:
left it with them on 6/29 and picked up on 7/1. both times according to the paperwork they replaced every gasket and o-ring involved.

200mi later the base gasket is still leaking and i'm not happy. :furious:
spoke with someone who asked if the studs were replaced, to my knowledge they were not. the leak is on the rear, and has shown up at the same place. after the first fix it was several places and worse.

i'm still gonna ride the chit out of it.

wish me luck

my bike was built 9/06 and has 10500mi

TN,
Check my post in Twin Cam.  There is another regarding Crank Runout.
He had gaskets done and now rear cylinder is being replaced.
My replacement head gasket is leaking after 400 miles.  They'll be talking to HD on Monday but apparently there is an issue with the rear cylinder.
I also have an unknown tranny leak.
