« on: October 06, 2012, 10:51:38 AM »

Does anyone ride with there IPad in there saddlebags? Just wondering if the vibration would be bad for it, and possibly damage it. Thanks

Just did 2600 miles with my I-3 in the bag or tourpak. No problems. The iPad is all solid state, so if you were using it for music there will no issues.

Unlike the iPod videos that have hard drives. They can lock up when hitting excessive bumps. For that reason, I use a newer iPod 64 (iPhone version without the phone) for bike tunes.

I would use a neoprene sleeve. Other than that, no worries.

I use a sleeve for normal use, but to lighten things up I only used the Apple fold over magnetic cover.
Apple calls it a smart cover - not really that smart though.

Have carried both an iPad 1 and an iPad 3 in my saddlebags for thousands of miles with never an issue. Keep it in a leather zipped up portfolio to protect it. As others have said, it's all solid state. A buddy of mine has his mounted on the handlebars of his 2003 CVO Road King. Great for GPS and taking movies and photos on the road. Don't have enough room on my handle bars so I keep it in a tank bag for GPS and tunes but when the new iPad Mini comes out (this month the rumors say), I believe I will be mounting one of those on my handlebars for long trips. I have a bluetooth setup in my helmet and get my tunes off the iPad.

Used my IPad 1, rode halfway across the country packed in the TP with Bluetooth in my helmet, worked great.

They already are mounting I Pads in the batwing  fairings. I believe FBI makes a inner fairing to set in in! Why carry it in the saddle bag? :2vrolijk_21:

I saw one at the shop that did our paint. Looked a bit out of place.

I agree...that looks too big...but Apple is apparently coming out with a smaller iPad version this month...approximately 7"...now that might work!
