2015 CVO RGU
« on: April 24, 2020, 10:39:51 PM »

I still don’t own a CVO, but I am currently looking at a 2015 cvo rgu with 68,000 miles. I was wondering if anyone thinks it is too many miles, or will there be some major issues coming soon. Thanks everyone. This site is the best

Your answer depends upon the quality and extent of previous repairs and maintenance done to the bike. What major work has been done?

Not sure. Just saw the bike online and talked with the dealer yet. I will try and find out tomorrow and post what I hear.

With that many miles on it, you won't be able to buy an extended "warranty" from HD. You'd have to go with one of the other few that are out there. I personally won't own a 110 engine with some type of warranty on it.

You need to find out if lifters have been replaced and if so at what milage.  Very common failure point.  They failed at 44K miles on my 15 CVO RGU.  They Failed at 36K miles on a Friends 15 CVO RGU.

cycle trader has a blue one same miles  $14k ... money is good and dont think it would loose much value after that, address a couple of the known issues common to the 110 then ride the ship out of it. if you can get it bought that cheep, thats my 2 cents

Thanks everyone. It looks like I should be asking about lifters no matter what year I look at purchasing.  ;D

On a bike with the 110 engine yes.  That said, the 110 is a very good engine.  I have had several of them and still have my 13 CVO King.

LIFTERS.... LIFTERS... LIFTERS

My 110 blew up at just under 50K miles.  Lifters failed and took out the cam, etc and rest of the engine was flooded with metal.

I was lucky.  Had a ESP which covered replacement of the engine with a brand new Harley 110.

I had my mechanic install S&S lifters on the new engine along with a TTS camshaft.

I agree that a 110 is a great engine EXCEPT for the well know problem with lifters.  If they are replaced before the engine self detonates, you would most likely be very happy with that motor.
