Good Motorcycle Insurance in MA?
« on: April 29, 2005, 10:53:40 PM »

Well...obviously, I need to find a new insurance company.

Here's the damage estimate from the appraiser they assigned to the accident.

Please hold your laughter until the end...

Headlamp Assy. = $149.00
Lt Front Signal Mounting Bracket = $18.00
Lt Front Signal Lamp = $19.95
Lt Rear Signal Lamp = $19.95
Lt Grip Handle = $24.00
Clutch Lever = $36.00
Lt. Mirror = $110.00
Fuel Tank Green = $497.00
Shifter Lever = $31.00
Shifter Pedal = $23.50
Shifter Pedal Rubber = $16.95
Lt Front Footrest = $42.50
Lt Rear Footrest = $42.50
Lt Primary Housing = $365.00
Housing Gasket = $17.50
Lt Side Cover = $76.00
Cover Gasket = $1.75
Misc Hardware = $10.00

They guesstimate 5.7 hours labor at $32.00/hr

$75.03 in sales tax...

To which I have to respond......BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!

Are they f*cking kidding me?

Let's start with labor....which is $79/hr. In what world does any Harley shop charge $32/hr.....Hell when my old man was an auto mech. it was like $45/hr...and that was back in the late 80's.

And the idea that you can replace my side directionals for $19.95?

The fuel tank...which I've found online for $755 and which my Harley shop tells me is $800+

Unbelieveable. And they wonder why people are unhappy with the state of Insurance in Mass

PS...it's been three weeks since the accident, and I still haven't been compensated.

I miss my FXR3 :(

Dumped a K1100lt (bmw) a few years ago. Apraiser was a rider. Said if any hidden damage that dealer could drop them a line and they would adjust the claim. The bike got all fixed up about 1500.00 and I just paid the deductible. I use Safety insurance. With the rates they get in Ma. short riding season etc. we should get good service.

UPDATE:

When it was all said and done...the company's estimate was off by $765..,which is what Harley charges for my new tank.

The bike's ready to be picked up, (minus the clean tank...it's coming in a few weeks) but the weather's not agreeing with us this weekend.
