Title: Went down
Post by: pudgeyxj on March 15, 2018, 07:59:17 PM
Well Sunday I got side swiped. Bike is messed pretty good, but thankfully I was able to walk away. Fella changed lanes right into me, had nowhere to go. All things considered it went as well as possible. Rode it home, something was messes (prob bars), and a chit ton of paint work. Will need new lowers, crash bar, front fender, both bags and lids, running boards, bars, levers, grips, etc... So far my repair estimate is about $10K Canadian in parts alone. But I walked away, that is really all that matters.

Now we wait....

Just thought I'd share.

Cheers

Paul

Right on the money, unc.

Paul, glad it was just cosmetic on the bike and you walked away.  Not always the case in motorsickle incidents.  The Lord had an extra dose of protection for you that day.

It's that time of year again when the bikes hit the road for the first time in months and drivers are not use to looking for them... Still no excuse for it though.  In Ontario for the first couple of months of spring the MOT has "Watch for Motorcycles" on their highway signs, but no signage is available for the city streets unfortunately where it is just as important.

Certainly glad to hear you're okay for the most part, and the bike can always be repaired or replaced - which may be the case with $10k+ in damages.

Good luck with everything.

Most important part. No scars, no broken bones. You're a winner even if you had an accident.

pudgeyxj,
We all here at the CVO forum are Very glad to hear you came out of the wreck uninjured.

But, you've got to have at least one scar from the wreck, even if it's just a hangnail, that you can point to so that when you meet up with your riding buddy's you'll have your war story to talk about.  ;D ;D :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21:

Glad you came through with little more than a stain in your pants.

As some here can attest, this sort of accident can cause many hidden damages, such as cams, lifters, bored-out pistons, header pipes, etc. Make sure your personal mechanic brings these to the insurance adjuster’s attention.

Just sayin’...

Did the cage stop? Happened to a friend of mine and if another cager hadn't helped the offender would have snuck off, scott free. Got the bastid for hit and run, which made it a lock for fault proof.

Thanks for the kind words, pretty much all better, one more bruise to go. All went as well as one could expect, cage stopped, witnesses stopped. Now we just wait. The HD shop said they will prioritize getting it rideable and give it back so I can ride while we wait on the HD painted parts. They said anything needing paint will just be replaced, so that's good.

I'll keep ya posted.

Cheers from Canadia  :drink:

glad you're ok( or as well as can be. minus a ride for now). this is why I post the RIDE SAFE!   BE CAREFUL!  at the end of some of my post. no matter how safe we ride, we have to be aware & ready for the non-attentive drivers. good luck & God Bless !

Glad to hear that you walked away  :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21:

You beat my (unofficial) damage $$$ record for a "walkaway"  :nervous: back in '07, I got clipped by a hit & run,,, did right at $8k damage on the '05 SEEG without dropping the Bike or getting a scratch on me (THANK YOU JESUS!!)

I was in shock for a couple of days and there were some crimp marks on the seat :nervous:
