Have you ever driven at 18 year old car? That's about what it would feel like. Grandpadoc down in Lake Elsinore just put his 2000 app for sale. I would expect that to have a fair number of miles but be in very good condition.

Nothing wrong with riding a 18 year old bike, just remember it is 18 years old. It, regardless of how it has been maintained needs EVERY piece of rubber from swing-arm bushings to handlebar bushings, throttle & clutch cables, brake lines, probably master cylinders, brake calipers (or at least rubber boots/seals), tires depending on when they were last replaced, battery cables, brake light switches etc. all REPLACED before it could be called dependable. Check for fuel tank rust, pitted fork bearings as well as wheel bearings. Pretty much like a non-frame off classic car restoration. Pricey and labor intensive if you do it correctly.
Good Luck!

Mine rides fine but I do keep it maintained.  The main problem with a 2000 fuel injected bike is the possibility of the MM Ignition going bad.  The MOCO changed to the better ignition in either 2001 or 2002.

This bike is a spare though, not my main touring ride.
