GTS Speaker Test
« on: May 25, 2020, 08:45:27 PM »

Has anyone gone into the service menu and tried out the sound system speaker test. This emits a sound from every speaker. I noticed on my 20 CVO Limited that the front speakers (L&R), emit a loud tone independently, but the rears only produce a little sound like a pop from the left and right speakers. All four operate fine , but just wondered if it's normal for the rears to only make a single pop type of tone?
So has anyone tried out this test? If so, what were your results?

I’ve done this test several times and it emits the same steady tone through all the speakers

The pop type tone you describe from the rear speaks doesn’t seem normal.

Thanks. I doubt it but maybe Harley changed the speaker test for the GTS system?

I wish I could get someone to run the test on their 2019 or 2020 CVO bike. Any takers? It's a quick 5 minute test. Doesn't affect any settings on the bike.
That would help a lot.

Gladly.

To enter SERVICE MENU.

1. On the CVO, do not turn on ignition. To turn on accessory mode,
press and hold the trigger button until the GTS starts up. Wait about 10 seconds for the WARNING screen to display.
2. Then press and hold the power/mute button on the GTS faceplate       until the service menu is displayed. About 10 seconds.
3. Press Audio.
4. Press Speaker Test.

Then you can either press AUTO or each individual speaker and listen for a long tone.
Let me know your results.

Very much appreciated.

PS. Sorry for the gaps in sentences. I tried to edit a bit however this board has a wacky way of trying to make a change. I finally gave up.

OK - Just for reference, mine is a 2019 CVO Road Glide,  Boom II Audio, 4 Speakers, 2 Amps - All stock.   When I ran the test in Auto,  it cycled through each of the 4 speakers and sounds a tone.   All four played the tone.  You might have to get someone with a Boom I system to try it out as I don't think that they have 2 amps like the Boom IIs.

Yes, the CVO Limited only has 1 amp under the batwing. I don't know anyone with a CVO Limited, so hopefully someone else on this board will run the test on their bike and let me know.
Again, thank you so much for running the test.

I have a 2020 CVO Limited and just ran the test you were asking about. I got the same results as you did. I even faded the speakers so all sound was coming from the back. Still got the tones only for the front right and left. Just a little click when it showed testing the back left and right speakers.

bigC,

Thank you so much for performing this test.

So it seems to be the way the 2020 CVO Limited audio system is supposed to operate. You saved me a trip to my dealership for a diagnosis.
