A FEW COMMENTS:
1. They do a Auction a couple of times a year. Usually it's just bikes though.
2. They are continuing to reduce the number of stores they own nationally due to Bruces passing and the family not wanting as many.
My sense is that the Florida territory will be enough.
3. The Downtown Daytona store is going to be a museum with the Harley Diner next door staying open. Remember they bought and settled on the old Corbin store on Main Street two days before Bruce passed away in Sturgis. That store will continue to cover the Bike Week and Biketoberfest events but no motorcycle sales there.
4. They still own New Symerna and are do well there.
5. A very large percentage of their premium market sales was to overseas buyers during the events which is now eliminated unless the bike is titled to a US address aka second home WITH a valid US drivers license and insurance. The same holds true for parts and accessories as well as we all know here on this site.
6. The new Harley sales strategy is no dealer prep and shipping fees and MSRP sales. I have no first hand knowledge of any recent purchases or their over all satisfaction.
7. Overall, the strategic plan is to drastically reduce the Rossmeyer "foot print" consisting of the Harley franchise dealership holdings, a few airports, marinas, car and motorcycle dealerships, and lots of commercial and residential real estate and undeveloped nationally at reasonable as opposed to fire sale prices.
8. FWIW: They could have picked up the recently closed St. Augustine Harley territory but deferred to Jacksonville based Adamac Harley-Davidson.
9. MOST IMPORTANTLY in my assessment the Rossmeyer family continues to support lots and lots of charities and civic events as Bruce did. One of the most important and personally moving is The Boggy Creek Gang that was co-established here in Florida by Bruce Rossmeyer. It is a planned ride to the Boggy Creek camp for kids with cancer (some terminal) where they can go to do kids camp stuff and have on site chemo and other cancer care. If you can plan to go at least once. I'll bet you'll go again. NEAT STUFF!!
Oh Yea, the latest news is that St. Augustine Harley's building which they were renting from the original Harley-Davidson franchise owners will now be.........A HONDA DEALERSHIP!!
