Title: CVO 110 CAM
Post by: xbigallenx on June 30, 2019, 06:16:47 PM
I'm sure this has been ask a thousand time,  I haven't been keeping up for a while and did do a little searching.
But here it goes. I just turn over 40000 miles on my 2007 110 ultra. now ever one telling me the cams and lifter should go out soon.
I'm thinking of going ahead and changing cam and lifter. What cam should I go with. I ride around town and take trips across states too every now and then.
I have Rinehart true duel 3 inch pipes, stage 2 air box. and a power commander tuner. What has work good for every one that rides not just a bar hopper.

Thanks Allen

Probably should research that Power Commander and see what cams are compatible with it.  If it can't adjust for a different cam you will need a different tuner like a FP3, TTS or Power Vision just to name a few.
I had the Andrews 57H in my 2012 CVO 110 and if you put that cam in and get a TTS tuner I could send you my dyno tuned calibration file as a starting point for the Flight Recorder autune process.

Its not the Cams that wear out, however I went with the Andrews 54`s good wide torque band and not heavy on your valve springs (actually I changed out the valve springs as well for something less stressed, you should be looking at the inner cam Bearings (Go to Torrintons or equivalent) they can collapse, as you stated the lifters (many good choices S&S/Fueling etc) and also many are upgrading the cam chain Hydraulic tensioners I went with the zippers.

But most of all you need to check the Crank "Run Out", and if above 4 thousands of an inch then check your oil pump!!

If you have 40k without any upgrades you have done well, Don`t wait.

Good Luck.

The Power Commander should be alright if that is what you already have. You will just need a shop that does tuning and is familiar with using the Power Commander to retune the bike. Lots of Performance oriented bikes with PC's. I do think some of the more popular (now) tuners may be easier to use but the PC can do a admirable job. Just don't try to download a "Canned" tune and think all is well. Find you a shop.
