Goodbye Tomtom Rider 2, Hello Zumo 550!
« on: December 29, 2008, 12:40:41 AM »

Got a Tomtom Rider 2 from Santa... found a Zumo for the same price, sent Tom a packing!

Tom has a nicer display and some pretty cool other stuff, but Zumo is much better in the long run.... even if it is just a 550!

For you Tomtom guys, I found some freeware that looked pretty good that ran Tom's software with Google Maps called TYRE (Trace Your Route Everywhere) seemed to work better than the crap Tom puts out!

When you download the freeware it will attach right to your Tomtom Home link!

You seem to be a hell of a guy to give an xmas present to. Just jokin'. Can you elaborate why the Zumo is better than the Rider 2 "in the long run" ? Thanx!

Ride safely,

Zumo has MP3 with lots of storage capacity for photos and books as well, fuel gauge, mounts for the bike and car (car one has a speaker), power cords (only bike one for Tomtom), lock for the bike mount to name a few.

More bang for the buck with Zumo... plus there are way more Zumo users around who can lend a hand!!!

Murphy
Where did you find the zumo for the same price.
I was in Best Buy over the holidays and found a Tom Tom rider 2/cw a scala rider bluetooth headset for $450.00 canadian. Half the price of the Zumo. I am starting to think that it was marked wrong but the salesman said it was right. I am familiar with the Garmins and am very happy but would like a system for my bike.

I found our Zumo at a local audio dealer, it was $650 and that included a 3 year warranty.

Bestbuy has Tomtom at every Canadian store now for $599... $450 is a great deal!
