Any thoughts on Xena security system?
« on: February 12, 2009, 11:12:49 PM »

Has anyone used or looked into this security system.  It is a disc lock with a built in alarm system.  http://www.xenasecurity.com/home/current/lock/  For about $80, it seemed like a good additional deterrent to losing your bike.  Any thoughts?

I have one,  its nice... Until you lose the key or the lock gets salt in it.... Then you have to break your rotor....

Not fun...

I have a disc lock that I use when I travel, but can't see the benefits of adding an alarm to it if you already have an alarm on your bike. :nixweiss:

If nothing else, when you get on the bike, it will quickly remind you that you need to take the disc lock off when the alarm goes off.  Otherwise, I guess it makes sense for a bike that doesn't already have an alarm system.  I would think that 2 alarms would be louder than just one...not that anyone notices an alarm going off other than to think it's a nuisance.

Anyone that might have ridden off with a disc lock on their bike would certainly appreciate it

I have the Red one with alarm.
It does the job, but the batteries don't last long and when they get low,
it has a continues beep until you remove or replace the batteries.
Just get one without the alarm like d00d says and you will be fine.
