Hidden Radar Detector With Front & Rear Jammers
« on: August 14, 2006, 04:00:29 PM »

Hey has anyone installed a "hidden" radar/jammer system? This kit looks promising, but I am not sure about setting up a speaker that would either integrate through the SEEG stereo speakers or have some external speaker such as the H-D kit has for their Escort system.

Take a look at this Rocky Mountain radar setup and see if you think this may work:

The RMR-8RD/S "the Ghost" is one of the world's most sophisticated remote radar and laser detectors coupled with the most advanced dual remote radar and laser scrambling for true protection from every angle. The RMR-8RD/S will detect not only all of the radar & laser guns in use today (including POP)but will complete scramble their signals virtually making your car invisible.

The RMR-8RD/S "the Ghost" provides distinct visual and voice alerts from it's onboard control module of X,K and all kinds of Ka band radar guns in the front and rear due to it's remote mounted receivers and scrambles front and rear with it's remote scramblers. If you get a ticket using the New RMR-8RD/S with-in the first year the manufacture will pay your fine. (certain restrictions do apply)

Remote Radar/Laser Detector w/Dual Scramblers

New Advanced Micro-Scan TM allows for faster detection for POP RADAR DETECTION

Complete 360 Degree Radar and Laser Scrambler

Voice Alert with Intelli-Voice TM keeps your eyes on the road!

I like the discreet mounting of the Stealth Hog system underneath the headlight but I just don't like the idea of a handlebar mounted receiver unit. My thought is this: If I get stopped and there is an obvious radar unit visible I am 100% guaranteed to get a ticket. I have been fortunate the few times I've been pulled over on the bike to not get a ticket. I am trying to figure out a system where it would be discreet as possible without a bunch of obvious hardware hanging off the bike.

Thanks again.

K-40 has the most discreet one, IMO.  It's pictured on this Site somewhere, on my Ol' Maudie.  Pretty neat.  Later--HUBBARD

Wanted to bring this back up to the top.

Has anyone utilized such a setup on their bike?

I would like to find out more info also. Anyone with real world experience?? The jammers a couple of years age did work well or at all. A secret weapon would be really cool even though I have never been stopped on my bike.( nock on wood)

speaker is mounted behind the speaker grill but not the stereo speaker
works about half as far as the K40 in my truck   ...   but still gives a good warning ahead

well   ...   look at each side of the speedo/tach pod   ...   you will see on the inside of the fairing what looks like two extra screws   ...
they light up blue   ...    you can get any color you want   ...   the "highway/city" mode switch and volume control is mounted inside one
                  of the "gloveboxes"
I did not use the rear shooter   ...   no where to hide it

Has anyone tried the Escort ZR4 Laser Shifter?  If Escort makes it, it probably works. It is an active Jammer.

I have never heard anything too good about the Rocky Mountain Radar stuff, especially the passive jammers  but I have never owned any of their products.  Just reading this website would make me very cautious about their products.               http://matt.simerson.net/reference/radar-scam.shtml

Passive Radar/Laser Claims

Outrageous claims are business as usual for the makers of Passive Radar and Laser Jammers!
Their Claim    ᅠ

$100 Ticket Rebate
Radar Roy Says    ᅠ

Why do manufacturers offer a $100 ticket rebate when they know their products don't work?

Well think about it folks...they make an item worth maybe $20 and sell it to you for $300!

If they send you back $100 after you get a ticket, they are still ahead of the game by $180!
ᅠ    ᅠ    ᅠ
    ᅠ

Too bad they also don't quote what these magazines say about their products.

Motor Trend Magazine; January 2004 issue: "While radar jammers are marketed, speedzones.com and our observations in El Paso show them to be totally ineffective, which is possibly the reason that their makers, while having been issued cease and desist orders by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), have not been prosecuted."

There's not a lot of remote mounted radar detectors out there that would work on a motorcycle (ie. weather proof). I've been considering the K40 model 1000 "hidden" detector. It's the simplest (& cheapest) in the K40 stable & only detects radar from the front.  After reading about laser jammers & rear detection, I think they'd be a waste of money.

I'm not in the hidden category, but I run a Valentine 1 on a Techmount and it does the trick very nicely. Bikes are much harder to pick up to begin with so unless you're dealing with instant on, and you're the only one out there, you've got a big advantage. Laser, is tough with anything, but on a bike, you have to get pretty close before they'll get you.

While my ride is a little different with not having the fairing, the reality is, I would probably will stick with the bar or windshield mounted V1 when I finally move up to a SEUC. Having the front and rear capability and the stellar performance of the V1 really offsets the desire to have something hidden which will reduce the signal, especially to the rear. No matter how fast I'm going, I can get down to safe range with plenty of time to spare.

On the highways out here, cops very frequently haul ass and sneak up from behind which can be tough to pick up with our tiny vibrating mirrors. The rear protection and the arrows is an absolute godsend and has saved my behind many times!

I think across the board the fact is, with or without devices, you really have to learn how to look inconspicuous, leverage blockers, and watch and blend in with the flow of traffic to reduce your odds of getting nailed. And, if you're alone on the road, no matter what you're using, stay below 5 to 10 over, depending on the area. If there's no one in front of you, you're a sitting duck, and no amount of counter-measure will help much.

mrmagloo - I also believe the V1 is the best detector around (got my first one when I had a Vette and have not been without one since). I've been looking for ways to mount it to my SERK. I have an after market fairing, so a bar mount won't work and the small windshiled does not have enough slant in it to use the V1 windshield mount. Have you seen other options? Thanks.

Actually some of the bar mounts might work if you mount it near the controls.  I've got a chrome Tech Mount and I believe they have a number of different heights. Might want to check it out.
