Illuminated CVO color change
« on: October 16, 2013, 10:44:48 AM »

Has anyone changed the color of the CVO that lights up on the dash? I am changing all my gauges to blue LEDs and want to change the CVO to a blue. Not sure if its a colored film that is red or if the light under it is a red LED. Anyone have a clue?

There are colored bulbs in the back of each of your gauges. The bulbs are relatively simple to swap out. If you search here, you will find threads on where to get bulbs and LED bulbs.

Custom Dynamics has them:   http://www.customdynamics.com/individual_leds.htm

Fortunately for us 2013 SERK owners, we can change the colors by using the settings menu within the dash via the info button and ignition switch.  I'm surprised that they didn't provide a similar option for the touring bikes with fairings.

Just to clarify, when I said dash, I meant the panel on the gas tank wthere the words Custom Vehicle Operations circle the HD symbol. I figured LEDs for the other guages, just unsure of the actual CVO wording.

Gotcha, Wrayzor. That is, unfortunately something us SERK owners don't get.  :(

On that analogy, I still have work to do. Gauges bulbs are next.

Yep, been reading up on the process for a while now. The small gauges will get the blue LEDs and the speedo and tach will be replaced by blue LED Dakota Digital ones. As for the HK, never planned on keeping it either.

You might want to rethink this one if you have. and want to use CB and intercom. No replacement unit has these functions. FYI

I use a wireless intercom by Scala and I think J&M also makes one.  CB's must be old technology, it's hard to even find truck drivers that'll talk.

I agree with the OP, more advantages to a new head unit than disadvantages.

Agreed on the CB, Breaker 1  9, breaker 1  9. LOL However when riding in a group, if the lead bike has a CB and the tail bike has one, we tune to a non used channel (most of them are  ;)) and the tail can alert the leader of clear lanes, riders in the middle with problems or needed pee break.
