I spoke to my local dealer in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago and he told me that he would negotiate with me on a brand new 2017 CVO Street Glide.
My question is what would be a great price for a new 2017 CVO Street Glide. I read in a post that someone received a 10% discount off MSRP. Is that unusual or can I get more than 10% off if I am a cash buyer purchasing a bike in the middle of a Chicago winter.
Thanks,
Ralph

= to or < than MSRP ($37,799) is what I would accept/shoot for if I were in the market.

I saw the 10% post, too. I think it was someone that buys a new one from the same dealer every year. They're going to get a deal. I've looked at multiple dealers in Chicago, none were willing to deal more than $1000 or so. Cash doesn't matter to them either, they make money on financing bikes.
-
Don't tell them you are paying cash, thats a bad thing not a good thing for them as they can make money on the financing. Every deal is "cash" for them whether you give it to them or the bank does, if the bank does they usually get "something" extra unless its your own bank. Also be careful of a "discount" and then dealer set up or freight charges on top of that.
-
There is a 20% gross profit baked into MSRP. If a dealer is willing to give you half of his gross profit on a new current model, I'd say that's a fair deal that he probably won't offer again once spring arrives.

I will tell you to shop around. I traded a 14 SGS in on mine and worked with 2 dealers, 6500.00 difference Between the 2 only 80 miles apart.

http://www.seminoleharley.com added $1000 for shipping and set up then took of 10%. Counting myself I know three people who got that deal. http://www.hdofasheville.com offered the same deal and so did http://www.mountainstatehd.com. Plenty of deals out there is you look.

I went to a dealer today on the North shore of Chicago who told me he was giving me a great deal by taking $1,200.00 off retail. He was then charging $1,296.00 for freight and setup and over $300.00 for administrative fees plus of course plates and registration. Dealer told me that his clientele can afford to pay his prices!!!
It seems like you need to get out of the Chicago area and look at dealers in Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan, etc. who are in less affluent areas that are willing to give a reasonable discount. I was even told that some dealers do not ask for any CVO's because its customers either can't afford or won't pay the high price of a CVO and that because they are allocated at least 1 or 2 CVO's they may be willing to deal if you give them a sincere deposit and sign a contract.
Guess I will just send out some emails to dealers in Wisconsin and see what happens.

Harley helps the dealer charge 450.00 for F&A. Who knows what that other stuff is.

Chicago is a strange market.....
I agree with not telling them about cash or financing. Chicago Harley and Lakeshore Harley are usually MSRP dealers. Lakeshore was bad....they thought they were giving me a deal at 10k over on a 15 hard candy sg.....but they've gotten pretty good. I bought from city limits....they were easy going. Good luck in your search.

Looks like Seminole has stopped giving the 10%. I guess spring is close.

Need some help looking to buy the Orange / Black CVO Street Glide and the best price I have found so far is $38,500 out the door with a $500.00 in-store credit on any parts I might want. How does this deal stack-up ?

What a deal, the chalk isn't even rubbed of the back tire yet from leaning in turns... I agree, make a low offer and haggle....

If that is including all taxes, all fees and truly out the door its a fair deal, especially with the 500 store credit. I would also ask for a 20% discount on parts and accessories.
-
36000 no fees is the lowest I found out so far .. what you guys think ??? Anyone has found lower than that ?

I went shopping for a new Streetglide CVO recently after totaling my '11 Streetglide, went to 2 Chicagoland dealerships, best pics I got was $36k ($40,600 OTD) and 10% off any new accessories.... that's when I came across a '15 Streetglide CVO in Tennessee, 2900 miles and bought it for $27,500! Very happy with my new bike AND the savings!
-
I'm in the market for a new bike after my 14' SGS got totaled. I'm hoping the dealers are wanting to move on the expensive bikes. Otherwise I'm thinking a slightly used 17' CVO Street Glide would also work.

Thought I'd update my last post. My dealer couldn't track down a 2017 black & grey CVO Street Glide (plenty of Blue one's), so I started looking at used. I found an awesome deal from a great guy looking to get out of motorcycling. I was able to get a used 2017 Sunburst Orange / Starfire black CVO Street Glide model with 6k miles. It came with matching tourpack, quick detach luggage for top of tourpack, full exhaust, full Bagger Nation footboard setup & plenty of other accessories for $33k. I just had to drive 550 miles to get it. Good thing the wife liked road trips lol.

Bought the one in Michigan? That's a nice piece, I thought hard about it but I like red too much to settle for orange. Congrats on the purchase.

absolutely on the used bikes! With so many for private sale with next to no mileage on them, I've never understood why anyone would bother with buying new. I just met a girl who bought her SG from a bank who had repossessed it from the previous owner with ONLY 500 miles on it!
congrats on the new ride. enjoy!

I tracked down a black one (1k miles I think) in Iowa that was used at a dealer. The gal on the phone told me it was good timing, they were doing friends and family weekend with very good deals on bikes. I was already skeptical (good deals, ya right). So she told me to giver her an hour to talk to the manger and see what their price for it on the weekend would be. She called back and said it's a great deal $39,900. I don't think/unsure if that was out the door. I chuckled inadvertently. She's like what? I said I guess you have to do what you have to do, but that's to high of a price to me. I said thanks for your time and hung up. The bike had a backrest and that was it.
Yep, it was the one on Michigan's CL that I bought. I skipped over it while searching for the Black one (wife really liked black), then forgot about it. It happened to pop back up on my radar when I was running out of black options for the wife. I will say the orange looked way better in person to me and the wife was quite happy. We didn't care for the SGS orange (wife said absolutely no) that came out this year. It kept making me think of road construction signs lol. Had great pearl in it up close though.
The owner was really nice guy. We all talked for almost 2 hours. He still had the CVO luggage still sealed in plastic, the gold key, manuals, the quick release top bag to go on the tour pack, wheel/rotor lock, passenger backrest for when the tourpack comes off. The keyfobs I have for it are huge though lol. Couldn't they make them a bit smaller this day and age? The guy wan't hurting for money, didn't want a lowballer, flat out said, and he didn't want someone wasting his time. He was a yes or no kind of guy, and I don't blame him. I offered to paypal him earnest money that I was serious. He also said he was willing to drive 2 1/2 hours to the Mackinac bridge to meet me to help out on my drive. I am pulling the Vance & Hines full exhaust system off (probably today), and will be selling it if anyone's interested. I'll have it in the for sale section here or HD forums. I already ordered up HD's EPA tuner & full exhaust system with mufflers as I want to retain the factory warranty. I'll be keeping the FP3 just to use as a great diagnostic tool.

Seriously you acquired a Gold Key that actually fits the '17 you purchased... Hmmmm

Never tried to put it in. My wife and I thought it was a novelty thing.

17's did not come with the gold Key.

Earlier years came with a gold Key and it did work on the bike. The gold key can be purchased through HD, and cut to fit. However no 17 CVO's came with the gold key.
-
Good to know. The old owner must have thrown one of his other keys in for fun. He buys a new CVO pretty much every year he said. Though, he's now retiring from motorcycling when he sold me my 17'.
I'll try and use it after work for chits and giggles.

Avalanche Harley in Colorado has 2 cvo sg's ,...slate and the red for $34000 otd if your from out of state ..you pay your applicable taxes in your state when registering...
-
Yep, the key doesn't work on the bike. It will make a nice novelty out in my garage whenever I make an HD shrine lol.

always ask for a deal (out the door) :drummer:
-
I finally located a brand new 2017 CVO Street Glide Candy Cobalt and Indigo Ink with a great discount.
Sending in the deposit tomorrow and hope to pick it up next weekend. Only drawback is the dealer is about an 8 hour drive.
Can't wait to get the bike!!!!!!
-
What kind of discount. With the 18 out now buying from a dealer you should be able to get $4000.00 off sticker
-
I have to disagree agree with you on this one. For the last two weeks I've called almost every dealer in a 600 mile range from Chicago that had a blue bike listed on the factory computer. I only found one bike that actually existed. A sales manager at a local dealer helped me in this effort and he could not even find one blue bike other than the one I located.
If you know the name of a dealer within 600 miles of Chicago who has a blue street glide and will discount it $4k please let me know.

I have a blue 17 cvo listed on chopperexchange for 33,900. 575 miles.
-
I sent a straightforward email to Dallas H-D and, within an exchange of four emails, purchased the scoot.
$1,500 below retail + tax, out the door.
No destination charges.
No prep.
No additional fees.
No surprises.

My dealer by me had found a few and that was about a month ago now. I think more were toward south side of MN/into Iowa. I really didn't want that color so I never pushed him to do a dealer trade. I really wanted the black and grey CVO, but I couldn't pass up the deal I got on the orange and black slightly used. Too good of a deal.
Funny thing, I was calling dealers and also using the computer to search their inventories, which led me to Chicago area. Pretty much all of them never update their inventory. I consider it a bait and switch. A major waste of my time. Had a dealer want new price on a used one even. That was in Iowa.
-
I picked my orange and black CVO SG up for $34K new.... I will throw in that I have bought 3 new bikes from my dealer in a short time frame and I also waited till the day they did the 2018 rollout to make my offer. Military in TN don't pay sales tax on vehicles, so all I had was a plate fee on top of the bike's price.
-
I know a guy in Illinois that may have a 17 black and charcoal with 208 miles for 33,000
-
I bought a brand new Blue 2017 CVO Street Glide on September 1st for about 11% below retail and no other fees. I just pay my local sales tax in Illinois.
I went to Tennessee to find the deal. The dealer was great and they also installed D&D 2 into 1 pipes with a ghost pipe and a Power Vision Tuner at a great discount.
Illinois dealers would not even come close to this price.
I am very happy and love the bike. I did my first group ride last Sunday at the 9-11 memorial ride that started at Woodstock Harley.
