Try pushing in on the front of the Zumo and see if it gets louder.  The motorcycle mounts (with their spring loaded contact pins on bottom) are bad about not making a good connection.  Sometimes when you push on the lower front portion of the Zumo, it will connect and get much louder.  Also the Zumo has individual levels for MP3s, GPS and phone, so in addition to checking overall volume, make sure the individual volumes are at 100%.

I agree with harpmr...

The Zumo has quite a few settings and I have had mine for a year and it has performed flawlessly.  Read the manual and make sure that the settings are correct.

Good luck finding the flaw.......It will be worth it!

 :'( :'( :'(

I just ordered and am waiting on the Zumo cradle.  Mine is three years old and Garmin recommended replacing it.

I too have reduced volume.

 :(

My riding buddy replaced his in the first week under warranty.  He plugged a headset directly into the cradle to check the volume and it was low..

Might see what that is like.

If you are using a wired headphone, there is a battery operated amplifier you could purchase.  My wife uses one called a boostaroo.  Uses 2 AA batteries.  I bought hers on ebay.

There are 2 volume setting on the 550. Push the bottom button on the front of the Zumo unit and adjust with the middle buttons.

The second setting is under the Settings menu, Volume.

Hope this helps.
