A 110 with new problems..... yeah, I want to get in line to get one of those  ???

If they really have to go to water cooled, what was wrong with the VRod engine, that seems to be pretty trouble-free?  Bump up the size and stick it in a touring frame..... not sure why the MoCo missed that idea  :nixweiss:

Anyway, I will just stick with my scooter and watch from the cheap seats  :vrolijk_11: :vrolijk_11: :vrolijk_11:

If they can move the power band down and increase the torque to what's needed for a touring bike - why the hell not. Sounds like a better way to go than what they designed for 2014.

Reliable they seem to be.  But, personally, I'd not want to sit on top of one the way a touring bike is ridden.  That's the wrong RPM range to be over top of for 800-1000 mile days.

I found this on their website:

Voice Recognition (Optional), Bluetooth

The Boom!™ Box 6.5GT gives you voice recognition for hands free operation of your mobile phone, navigation system and music. It’s also Bluetooth capable for pairing your mobile phone or wireless headset. Whatever you want, just say the word. Whether it’s directions to the next gas station, a call back to the office you’re not at today or a song that fits the stretch of road you’re on, it’ll be served up without missing a beat.

I been lookin all over for this  where you find it.  Also nowhere can I read that there's a NAV system anywhere, nor did I see anykind of AUX input?

What is the cruising (75 mph) RPM of a VRod?

A 2000cc V4 "Tourolution" engine - properly cammed and stroked for low-end torque - would be perfect, I think.  It would never have overheating issues... but would require a HUGE radiator up front.

Liquid cooling and low end torque need not be mutually exclusive... And it's not impossible to design from scratch for that. Oh, but that would require a LOT more engineering investment than the Steamin' Eagle did... and I don't see the MoCo EVER doing it.

That is exactly what I am hoping for in the new Road Glide.  Been rumored project Dakota involves a new wider frame.  Wonder if that wider frame is to accommodate a V4 hotrod high horsepower motor.  That is what I am hoping for and hope to hear about it at the winter dealer meeting this year.

Stay tuned.

75 mph is going to push 6k.  Honestly that engine is fine with that all day long.  It's my body on top of it that wants something different.  Can't re-gear that engine as is without screwing up what torque it has.  The (still) mythical tour-volution wet V-4 with tons of torque (tourque?) and the ability to get chicks....  that could be a winner....  :2vrolijk_21:

As the Great Communicator used to say... "Now, there you go again..."

And as I say... "Well, THAT will be the TRICKY part..."

How about this... 45 degree Big Twin or V4 for the sound to attract the chicks, liquid cooled to eliminate heat problems, a long stroke for good low end torque like a big twin, quad overhead cams for good breathing. Yeah, there would be valve shims unless they figure out something else... BUT NO LIFTERS NOR CAM CHEST to ever worry about. And a direct drive gear primary to eliminate the primary chain and compensator issues. And one fill hole like literally EVERY other bike in the known universe.

NOW would you be interested? It COULD be done if they WANT to do it. Hell, they DID it years ago with Project Nova... but they shelved it. Maybe it was a Weak Chick Factor that did it in... gotta work on that.

The MoCo probably came here and read what you posted previously and said "oh chit!!" and had it corrected. :-[ :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:

Since it has a USB connection, it is possible that you could load things on a thumbdrive and download them to the GPS.  But that's just a guess, and probably wishful thinking.  Surely they would allow some kind of mapping arrangement other than having to do it all on the face of the radio.  That's OK in a cage, as you are generally going from point A to point B the fastest way, but on a bike, it's a different ballgame...two lane roads rule.

Right you are Terry. If it does not have functionality to upload routes, well that would be a showstopper for sure.

Only supposition but according to the MY 2014 tech bulletin the entire system can take system updates via the USB port.  While that's not an absolute it is at least likely that if the entire system could be updated that way that routes could be input the same way.  Would be even nicer if the bluetooth connection from a portable PC or a phone holding the route file could be used to do the same thing.
