180 Fat tire kit

Anybody know why the parts book says the 180 kit wont work on a fxdse1&2, but will work on a standard fxd. Whats the difference, and can it be worked around? I know the book says a lot of stuff wont work, but can be made to work if you know how. Any thoughts ?

Quietly, so as not to wake anyone here, I believe it’s a bias vs. radial issue……shhhhhh.  :)
