CVO LImited Horsepower
« on: April 21, 2014, 08:52:12 PM »

I bought my 2014 CVO Limited last September and have put close to 6,000 miles on it so far. I am curious as to how much horsepower the stock 110 motor has. I have been unable to find out the answer even through my local dealership.  Anyone know?

I had my 2010 110 CVO Ultra dynoed before I had my engine upgrades done. Right out of the crate with about 350 miles and bone stock it was 77hp and 100ft lbs.

I've seen three dyno results on stock 2014 CVO Limiteds. One at 85 HP and two between 88-89. Seems to me that these numbers are higher than they were in the past. Puttting a Full Sac system on mine when I take it in for the 1000 mile check.

Ok, so what is the deal here?  Please refer to the attached picture.

I call BS on the MoCo's numbers.

I have a Fullsac head x-pipe with 2" cores and an SE A/C and I get around 98.9 HP and 104.5 TQ @ Around 2750 rpm (if memory serves me).  Even that's nowhere near what the MoCo is putting out.

I am satisfied, however, with the performance, sound and mileage.  I get right at 210 on 5 gals which is right at 42mph (depending on how much I get into it  :bandana:)

It must be how the numbers are calculated??? Of course the MoCo would use the most flattering numbers.

The torque and horsepower numbers that I saw were measured at the rear wheel. I didn't mention the torque numbers but they were 99, 105, and 105 at the rear wheel on those three dyno tests.
Again all stock motors.

Harley's numbers are at the crank, I believe the rule of thumb is a 10% reduction at the rear wheel, which makes these numbers just about right on.

How do you like the Full Sacs? I plan on installing the X pipe and 2" cores as well. Is the sound about right, too quite or too loud?

Most 110s since 2009 have been capable of delivering around 100+ ftlbs (at the rear wheel) with factory cams (255s) and stock exhaust straight out of the crate.

I put Fullsac DX pipes and 2.0 Powercores on a week ago at 650 miles.  I now have a little over 900 miles and really like the way it runs.  No complaints at all.  I previously had a 2013 Ultra Limited, also Fullsac, and this CVO is a whole world of difference.
The sound is great too.  I included the muffler screens with one wrap of packing in hopes that it would knock out some of the high frequency cracking and emphasize the low frequency rumbles.  It seems to have done that without being obnoxious although I do have to watch the throttle in my development as it is very easy to make the bike bark.

OK, that makes more sense.  Thanks.  I am obviously not very knowledgeable on the subject.

As for the Fullsac set up, I am very happy.  Great sound and smooth feel.  Much cooler without the stock head pipe/cc.

I also helped my brother put on a 2.5 set with CVO mufflers and the x-pipe on his limited.  He is very happy.  The nice thing about the 103 was the dyno-tuned tune file for the 103 WH that comes with the TTS.  It worked perfectly right out of the box.

Too bad there is not a  "dyno-ed" tune file for the 110's.  The 110 tune file that came with the TTS was only a "ballpark" tune IMO.  I got a lot of popping and it basically just sucked.  I didn't have the time nor inclination to mess with the flight recorder, etc.  so I took my bike to a local legend who I think did very well with the tune.  When I think of it, I will post my dyno sheet.  From what I can tell, it makes power at the low end and holds pretty well through 5k.  It just "feels" good to me.  One thing he told me was that he fattened it up a bit to keep it running cooler.  Important stuff down here in Tejas!

Just got back my 2014 CVO limited back from the shop after installation of the X pipe headers. Kept the mufflers stock. Results were 98 HP and 108 TQ. I'm happy with the results for now!
I'm itching to get back to where I was on my 09 CVO 114HP and 125 TQ but I'm hesitant to start that project yet on this new bike. Right now I like the quiet a d refined feeling after listening go those Woods cams on the 09.

I just de-catted my headpipe and added the tts tuner. Didn't like the sound of the 1.75 baffles so put the stock mufflers back on. Much better.

Just got my bike (2014 Limited C.V.O.) back from HD Cycle shop in Lillian Alabama where Heath got 96.00 hp and a whopping 115 lbs torque out of my stock 110 with a TTS MASTER TUNE - V tune. All I added as far as parts is the Fulsac DX PIPE 2.25 BAFFELS AND THE C.V.O. SCREENS. No engine mods at all. This bike now runs like it has a 110 engine on it. :bananarock:

Seems to me that these numbers are higher than they were in the past.

One thing I can say via the butt dyno - this (2014 TKSE) is my 4th 110 motor, and it's way quicker than any of the previous three, with basically the same modifications. (Filter on previous models, not this one, V&H Power Dooals, SE 65115-10 mufflers, canned map).

Also, this one uses no oil - all previous ones did - so it may be that this one is just an example of those once-in-a-while great motors where the tolerances were good, and it went together well.

My 2014 off the Dyno bone stock was 81/100.
