Title: 2013 CVO Road Glide bag latch
Post by: 89fxrs on April 05, 2020, 05:08:25 PM
2013 Road GLIDE CVO -bag latch keeps popping opening up if i hit even a small bump - in the owners manual on page 60 it says you can adjust the latch fingers by bending them - not sure what they mean or how to do this, any one understand this and how to do this? Also replaced the lid with a new gasket.

There's a spring that the pin goes through and if it breaks it will pop open all the time. Find a breakdown online of the latch assembly and you'll see the spring.

i don't have the old style bags anymore so can't really take a picture, but if you look at the diagram, where the arrow is, that hinge pin 'locks' into the bottom piece by friction (should be 3 tabs).  if the bottom piece is too loose, then it'll pop open on you all the time.  take a look closely at your bag and you'll see it.  just pry it up a little with a flat tip screwdriver.

and the best thing is to always keep your bags locked.  then no matter how big a bump you hit, they won't pop open.

Without a doubt, the best way to keep your saddlebag from opening is to keep your bags locked.

Best advise ever.
