Honda's new dual clutch manual trans. The future!
« on: September 16, 2009, 09:33:19 AM »

Heres some gear head tech at its best.

This type of trans technology has been around in the car and semi truck world for a while. Its basically two 3 speed trannys side by side. One is 1st 3rd and 5th. the other 2nd 4th and 6th. While your driving in first gear the other trans is already in second. The computer seamlessly engaged one clutch while disengaging the other.
My friend has this in his semi. Its glassy smooth like an auto but has the efficiency of a Manuel. How sweet would this be in a Bagger.

The moco should have that available by 2085.  Of course the first 3 years will have numerous gasket leaks and clutch explosions!  It will pee all over your garage floor and get locked into 3rd gear.  Since they will also take off the clutch handle, figuring "we copied this from the japs, and they don't need a clutch handle, so we don't need it"; you'll be stuck in 3rd.  You'll have to stop by killing to motor and start by defeating the start in gear feature.  Of course there will be an 8 speed CVO model, which will cost $84,995.  It will be painted 2 tone black with an extra chrome button on the radio.

AND..................if you take it in to the dealer complaining of leaks, missed shifts, locked gears, noise...........you will get the response: "They all do that"!

And a few on this site will line up to buy it!
