A friend of mine has one he traded his Hd after so many problems. Last I checked he had about 40k on it and only snapped a belt but easy replacement. I sat on it and had to get off before l liked it to much. The seat height is perfect for us short of leg types as my feet were flat on the ground with a slight bend. :o

Anyone ever ask Corey & Pop's why their personal bike riding preference is a Harley... Yea, Cory rides Victory's, but it's a stigma thing...

Like the looks and build quality of the Victory line.  Have a very good friend (and former Kaw/Yam dealer owner and somebody I had the great opportunity to purchase from and work with part time) that now sells the Victory and Polaris product line.  It's a great motocycle.  I know they sell well and give a great option for those that want another alternative to the MoCo/Made in USA.  I've riden quite a few of the different models and while they are great bikes, they didn't have that "feel" (solid, big, heavy, slow... ;D ) I get with my HD.  Seat of the pants feel keeps me coming back to the MoCo.  Through my life, I've owned all kinds of two wheeled rigs.  Had great bikes and not-so-great bikes.  The Victory is a great bike, just not there yet for me to swap everything out from HD and make that move.
I am glad to see, however, the Ness family work with Victory as they make some great looking rides.  Can't believe Victory has been around for 15 years now....time flies.

Terry,
Is there a Victory in your future  :nixweiss:  Whats this bike retail for  :2vrolijk_21:

As shown, $25,999.00.  I looked at the 2011 version of that bike back before we bought the SERGU.  At that time, they did not have ABS brakes, but now do.  I memory serves me, by the time I added a few things, the MSRP was going to be about 27K.  I don't think you could talk them down off MSRP on the Cory Ness version, as they are limited production/numbered, but normally Victory dealers will "deal" on a bike.  Not having ABS at the time was a deal breaker for me.

You can add different exhaust and tunes to the bike from Victory.  With a nice exhaust baffle, they sound pretty good.  The seating position on this particular model is very nice, particularly if you're short.

It's a lot of bike for the money, IMO.

Sorry...I forgot that you're a Terry also!

Yea, when I was looking, seems like it was $24,999 and I was going to add a tour pack, a rack, some lowers, a Stage 2 (?) exhaust system and ECM flash, and a couple of other do-dads.  All of that was between 2-3K if memory serves.

No, it's not a HD, and it doesn't sound like one at idle.  But, it's a well built bike with good suspension, good brakes, and a 106 C.I. Engine with 4 valves per cylinder and overhead cams.  Only one hole for fluids, if I'm not mistaken.  Dunlop Elite 3 tires.  I'm not saying that they NEVER have problems, but I think they are few and far between.  All things considered, if I were buying today, it would be really high on the list since my wife appears to be one who can take or leave being a BSR and when we were looking for a bike in 2011, she thought she was going to like it more than she actually does.  This bike is definitely more affordable for someone like me.  It would also make nice second bike for someone who had a bike like mine or a SEUC.

Do I love it enough to sell my SERGU and buy it...I don't think so.

Good Lookin Bike for sure. They haven't been around enough to get a reputation yet. It cracks me up all the guy's out there who own HD and bad mouth them on these forums or compare them to other manufactures. If you don't like your HD, sell it. I have owned several and have have had minimal to no problems so I guess I'm lucky. HD out numbers all other look alike's 1000 to 1 or better.

No question on the numbers of bikes out there.  Victory will never even come close to HD with market share, but it's good to see a viable alternative that looks nice and priced decently.  It's definitely some competition for Harley's most popular bagger, the Street Glide.  A CVO SG....no way.  But something kind of "in between".

I know a guy with one of the early Victory bikes has over 100k and still no problems but it has a few oil leaks but this guy doesn't even wash it or take good care of it.

Ah ha!  That might be the root of the problems the Harleys have....we take too good of care of them!

I rented one of these 2 tears ago out in Laconia put a 1000 miles on it. It had a ton of very smooth power handled and felt great. If I was considering switching brands this would be the bike I would buy.

Road up to Daytona yesterday and looked at this bike. It's my opinion that it looks better in a picture than in person.

Victory's in general do not keep their value well at all. Numbers don't lie and when they outsold to the degree they are by HD, they will never hold their value. When you go into a store and there are multiple bikes to chose from and they are offering great deals on them it just becomes math...
With all that being said, doesn't mean they are not great running/well built bikes. Same thing applies to most of the bikes that HD outsells 100 to 1. Though we all might hate to admit it, there is just something about a damn Harley which is why almost everyone on this forum just can't get away!

I have a buddy that rides a 07 kingpin, he likes it but is looking to move into a cross country so he and the better half will have more room. It'll be interesting to see how the resale actually is. One of my other buddies is looking at buying a cross country too, but have been telling him to buy HD because of the dealer network among other benefits IMO.  He says the HD is cost 2000 more than the Victory.

That is the bike that is being raffled off this year for the National Motorcycle Museum (2013 Motorcycle Giveaway). Now... if I bought a ticket(s) and was lucky enough to win it I'd ride it... Would I go out and buy it... not sure. :nixweiss: But it does have one thing going for it... it's orange and black. :D :D

Gotta side with Terri and Murphy (and others) here.  That is a good looking bike, and I applaud Victory for taking a chance and NOT looking like a Harley.  They are an American company, they make a good product, and they don't look like they're trying to be an exact clone of HD.  The Japanese have tried to copy HD for years, and they haven't been able to make a dent in Harley sales.

On paper, Victory kinda makes people who buy Harleys look like fools.  Generally speaking, the Victorys will outperform Harleys in most measurable parameters, including power, handling, comfort, reliability, and price.  Plus, Victory has the highest customer satisfaction rating among all motorcycle manufacturers.  I was looking at Victory very seriously before I bought my Street Glide and I tried really, really hard to like the Victory better, but I didn't.  For me, the Street Glide just felt better on an emotional level.  I'm just glad that Victory is giving Harley a little much-needed competition.

On a forum devoted to motorcycles that are painted in bright, sparkly, metallic colors and dripping with enough chrome to make Liberace cringe, I find it ironic that anyone feels the need to equate owning a Victory to being gay.    :zstupid:

I road a Cross Country @ Bikeweek '12. It was not smooth like my SERG or the 05 SEEG for that matter. Really reminded me of a similar ride I took on one of the California Indians earlier, just a low end Harley clone.

Still missing a  :o hydraulic-clutch  :o on the vic-models,
the rest is okay. A buddy was driving with me 3500km thru
the french & italian Alps without a problem. The onyl thing
he mentioned as well was the clutch.

Metalic Paint and Chrome make you Gay????  I always thought it was riding a bike with Barney Frank and KY in the Crankcase.

Terry and I rode one recently and the only complaint from her was that she had to lean back too much, but I guess the TP could be adjusted a little to take care of that. Overall a very nice ride.  Doc

I noticed the bike in the link below when I was in Virginia a few weeks ago, at a Victory dealership.

http://www.hilltopcycle.com/new_galleria.asp?sid=05559198X6K26K2013J8I57I48JAMQ2020R0&veh=347720&CatDesc=Motorcycles&ModelYear=2013

The bike REALLY shines in person.

I posted in the picture section my recap of Sturgis 2013. One trend I mentioned was the increase (and I mean increase) of Victory and custom Victory bikes. I had 2 friends buy, over the phone, on the spot new Indians as well. Its Ok to have good USA competition. Here was a guy from South Carolina that had a custom Victory and spent around 30k. Well as Burt Reynolds said in Smokey and the Bandit "need one speedier than that" is my thought on the price difference we all have in comparison to the 30k number. Well north of that. I'm a HD guy but these look and sound like nice bikes. Hey I like the BMW1600 too and when I stop by the BMW dealer on a cold winters day and realize its 24k loaded to the gills with only 3 option package it makes me think too.

Nice looking bike kinda reminds me of a blacked out street glide with a big front wheel and stretched bags and fender. Oh wait, that's because it is basically a SG rip off. It is a very nice bike but we've all seen these from HD first. They need to come up with their own thing instead of mimicking the HD bikes...

LOL! Some of you guys responses to this are pretty hilarious. Look, coming from a multiple Harley owner, and someone that works at a Victory dealer for the past 6 years, I'll try and give you an unbiased opinion.

I currently have a 2012 CVO Road Glide custom. I've had 2 previous street glides and definitely was punched in the gut by the shark nose bikes after riding one in the mountains, so definitely a huge fan. In comparison sake of the Victory Cross Country to the bike it was designed to compete with head to head, the Street Glide, I can tell you from owning a couple, that in a head to head comparison that in almost every category, the Victory is a better bike to ride. The power is definitely better, much more comfortable regardless if you're short or tall like myself at 6'1", and handling is better. The most obvious plus side to it is the fact that it's a few THOUSAND dollars less expensive.

With all that being said, I personally don't usually hold on to bikes for very long. So to me, resale value is a huge thing for me. And in that category, Harley will rule that category for a LOOOOONG time to come. The other thing that, as of now, is something to consider, is there are a lot more options to personalize your Harley to your personality. Another category that Harley is definitely ahead in. Now, does that mean that you can't customize your Victory to your liking? Of course not. But I also know from a professional standpoint how much harder and less readily available aftermarket parts are to find for a Victory than it is for a Harley. For Pete's sake, there are 40+ different types of handlebars to choose from for a Street Glide. You MIGHT have 3 or so for a Victory.

One more thing to keep in mind. Competition is ALWAYS a good thing to have in any industry, and the 2014 Harley's are evidence of that. With the exception of the new frames in 2009, Harley really hasn't changed much. I'm pretty sure it's a safe bet that with the release of the Cross Country model in 2010, and the increase of sales in the market of that model, that was definitely a good reason for Harley to make the changes it did for it's 2014 models. So as much as us Harley owners may want to bad mouth Victory and hate on them all we want, we might actually have reason to thank them for the nice changes Harley made for 2014.

One thing is for sure, if you're on either of the brands, you're probably a happy camper and enjoying the life and riding down the asphalt. In my book, that's a win no matter what.  :pepper:

Very good report. I agree what ever you ride you will love as long as you can ride relatively problem free. I also agree that Victory and Indian in the game gives more choices and may force HD to improve. Can't wait to see the next step in the liquid cooling.

At what point do we get the unbiased opinion?

Here's mine, Honda may be the best bikes, Victories may be the best bikes, Ducati's may be the best bikes, but the best bike for ME are the Harley's sitting in my garage. And most likely you won't find me on a Ducati, Honda or Victory site trying to convince others of that fact.
Because------> I'd rather be riding my Harley!

SBB, I've decided that the best bike for you is a Suzuki.  Now go sell those Harleys and get one.    :(

Thanks for thinking of me.
I have had a little of everything.
Last Suzuki I had was a Hayabusa.
The air box was modified, had an Akrapovic 4 into 1 exhaust with a Power Commander.
Was a fun fast bike but my knees couldn't take more than 100 miles at a time.
