I wonder if the reservoir is shaped differently inside... and if that could have something to do with it.  :nixweiss:

From the exploded views you can't see that level of detail.  But different assy part numbers for 2014 (36700049) versus 2013 (36700025).

Very interesting, Don.

I'm surprised they were already making '14s all the way back in May!

Called my service folks to check on my service progress ('07 with noise getting worse) imagine that! Anyway, asked them what was the resolve for the clutch recall and he said ... "We don't know, HD has not sent us any parts yet" Sheeesh!!! :soapbox:

Many dealers are gettng the parts mid next week, and that might be a best case scenario.

Some are expecting parts Tuesday/Wednesday.  Considering there are maybe 20k+ bikes out there, this one is going to take a little time.

Called my dealer this morning...  They have no clue on when they will receive the parts...

-- " You better consider riding season over! We'll go get your bike this winter for the recall"...  He's supposed to get me more info next week.  We'll see!

So, at that point, I guess that the last dance goes to my Rocker C!!   :-*

Parts are being shipped on the 21st.  Dealers just don't know how many kits they'll get.  Could be 3 could be 103 per my dealer.

Typo in that post immediately prior to yours quoted above ^ .  Should have made the comparison between the new 2014 part number and the immediately prior 2013 number (not 2012).  2012 used yet a different part number carrying the old numbering scheme (42101-10).

It's also at least a little weird that for years the clutch master cylinders were serviceable.  Then not so beginning in 2011 with words about serviceability issues and safety.  Then in 2013 they became serviceable again.  Seems there's been more hopscotching on these clutch master cylinders than had realized until you brought this up Ken.

Still curious whether this recall is an entirely new issue related to the cylinder as you've suggested and, if so, what the fix might be (would be humorous if they just start slapping on a bunch of the cylinders from the 2013) or if it's the old boiling fluid issue and the fix is just some shielding.  It's not like Mother Harley to fess up to such a long standing issue and open themselves up to argument from so many owners.  The longstanding boiling fluid issue notwithstanding a best guess and uninformed presumption would be they're going after something new.

Don't forget the radio problems. ::)

There's got to be something seriously wrong at that company.  If you're going to tout all the new "improvements" the way that they did and talk about all the testing that was done, you had better have your chit together when it comes introduction time, because you're making it sound like you do.

Sad.

It's hard to believe MoCo can still believe, or at least act like they believe, that their client base is a bunch of lemmings in leather chaps.  Not much else really explains the cavalier arrogance that client base is treated with.  I'm actually giving MoCo the benefit of the doubt when I suggest it is a cavalier arrogance that this the problem.  Because the only other suggestion that makes any sense is that they are just that f&%(^ng stupid and/or incompetent.

The 2014's have so many nicknames already, the board will have to do an index for them.  2 good ones you have there.  You should think up one for the radio.

Can You Hear Me Now?-tainment System is just too wordy.

Don... I think the real problems are the relentless pursuit of cost-cutting above all else, and RUSHMOREing things into production without proper road testing. Regardless of WHAT the MoCo says, the cooling issues and the clutch issues SHOULD have surfaced during on-road testing - assuming they actually DID a lot of real-world road testing and did not simply run parts and systems on static test equipment.

I sure wouldn't want to be an engineer at the MoCo these days. They probably have bean counters looking over everything trying to squeeze out every last cent of cost. This continuing defects chit is RIDICULOUS and INEXCUSABLE!

Honey Badger has a permanent home in my garage! I think the stars were aligned when she was built... or maybe it was a Thursday morning after Church night and nobody had a hangover. At any rate, I wouldn't touch a '14 with a 10-foot POLE after all this crap...

Iski... I saw Project Gush-More on the forum somewhere, so I can't take credit for that... But Project Clutch-Less is mine.

How about "Info-LAME-ment System" for the radio?

Same story I heard, they came to pick up my bike today.  This could be a while, depending on who gets the priority on parts that come in.
