Thundermax Tuner - Sreaming Eagle Street Glide
« on: May 04, 2010, 06:59:29 AM »

Hi,

Has any one Installed the new Thundermax tuner to the new CVO Screaming Eagle Street Glide yet? I know they have finally produced the tuner for this model and want to order one to go along with my Vance & Hines true duals with high output mufflers. As you are probably aware the Thundermax tuners cost a whole lot, but think they do offer a 3 year warranty with this product. Any Info etc would be helpfull before I commit myself to buying?? :-\

Nice ride! I am also interested in this unit. Trying to find out about discounted pricing?
Planning on adding cams soon and this appears to be the best available for continous tuning.

Have you considered the TTS mastertune?  Seems to be the tuner of choice on this board, costs half what the Thundermax runs and has proven results.

While it's a good product it as no Autotune and requires a Dyno to use properly and another run after every mod! Also as it doesnt self calibrate it also doesnt compensate for altitude changes.

I believe the stock ECM will compensate for altitude changes with no problem.  Even if you use the SESPT or TTS Mastertune software.

I read today that the O2 sensors for the Tmax auto tune fit the 2008 and 2009 18mm bungs. They do not however fit the 2010 12mm bungs.

I have emailed Jamie at Fuel moto for clarification?

This would require the use of the 2009 pipes or adding bungs to the 2010 likely damaging the chrome!

I was about to order as I read it and as I already purchased V&H power duals w/ 12mm bungs this would personally be a show stopper.

I would venture to guess this is also true of the PC-V Autotune as it uses the same Bosch wideband sensors.

Yes its true the O2 sensors will not fit the 2010 pipes so you need 2009 pipes or have 18mm bungs installed. Scratch this one as I already purchased V&H Power Duals, Not repurchasing pipes for the autotune.

Assuming your buying the tuner for performance (Duh) you may want to reconsider the "True Duals" in almost all cases I've read they cause a performance loss?

I believe there are examples of owners who've had improvements over the stock exhaust with the V&H true duals.  I'm sure Wheels is talking about a loss compared to other alternatives such as the 2-1-2 power duals, etc.

Going catless with the true duals is still better than the stock IMHO, however it may not be significantly different or perhaps at a loss when compared to the stock headpipe with the cat removed.

just my 2 cents, but I'll see if I can find some numbers to back it up.

exactly Sapper, and sometimes esthetics is a bigger factor than power. Just depends what your after?
