Primary Noise
« on: May 15, 2010, 04:59:02 PM »

Has anybody had the clacking noise in the primary (in neutral) that gets worse when they bike gets hotter, and goes away when you pull in the clutch lever? Any cures ? I know this has been asked in a different post but it is kind of hidden.

Yup, mine does the same thing.  It's gotten progressively better which I attribute to three things:
1. Pipes and tuned
2. Break-in
3. Replace primary and tranny fluid with Mobil1

It definitely gets worse when hot but not nearly as bad as when I first got it.

I forgot to add that when I drained the primary there was way more fluid in there than the recommended amount.  I took the clutch cover off first and some fluid poured out over the bottom edge.  I'd say there was at least a half pint more than spec.
