Title: GPS map updates
Post by: Hondo2doc on April 22, 2019, 08:14:20 AM
So trying to update the maps on my 2015 SESG. It is a free update. I have downloaded the naviextras app onto pc. Authenticate unit with thumb drive. Go through downloading update to flash drive ( took about 25 minutes). Go to bike and begin install.

So it takes a couple of minutes to get through the authentication process. And then this. It says do not turn off during install procedure. Turn bike to accessory switch and it shows a pic of the neck lock turned to the accessory position. At the bottom of the screen it has a yes or no box. The no box is highlighted and the yes box is not lit up. I can not toggle to the yes box. It won’t allow me to hit the yes button.

I have cleared the thumb drive and repeated three times. I have uninstalled naviextras and reinstallled three times. Changed thumb drive and yes again tried three times. Made sure The infotainment system has the latest software update. Also have the latest dealer location update too. I am at a loss.

Any ideas please?????????

I am sure you are aware of this but you do not mention it, so just in case.    Turn the Ignition off.  Press and hold the square button on top of the left hand controls (The one that toggles the odometer view) until the power comes on.   That is accessory mode.   It has nothing to do with the lock cylinder on our bikes.  To get it out of accessory mode just press and hold the button again.
Is that what you were doing?

Well no I had not done that. I did not know/understand that it had to be specifically in accessory mode to do update. As opposed to just being on. Will try that now and report back. Thanks.

It tells you in your owner's manual, also when you get the finger print from your bike and download the newest map available, if will tell you that you already have the latest map.

The owners manual tells you how many & the time restraint for the free updates and Navitracs will tell you if the current update is new for you or if you already have it. You do have to set up account with Navitracs to check. It's pretty easy once you have been thru it once.

Just did my 2nd one. It says NACVO 2018 or something like that. At this rate, I won't get my 3rd one before Dec when my 5 years is up.
