Title: 1994 Bushtec Turbo +2
Post by: Chains on February 11, 2015, 07:07:48 PM
Picked this up in Jackson Mississippi about 3 weeks ago.  Decided to build a old school trailer out of it. Had major bubbles in the paint under the bra, almost like it had water under the paint. I have it all fixed and sanded, will be painting it satin black next week or so.  Took off amber reflectors and am using some Ford Raptor led grill running lights I had sitting around in there place. Nice and small plus they are bright. 3/4 X 1 1/4, fit in belt line below lid perfect. I have already painted the wheels sterling silver and installed Kenworth 3 bar spinners, they press fit on the Bushtec hub.    Found some silver flake Harley logo pinstripe tape that is 1/2 high. Will put it in belt line down the sides.  Once it is on the road I will get it to a professional pinstriper for that old school touch.

Will post further developments as it progresses. One thing, it surprised me it has a chrome plated cooler holder. Air shocks and air line are perfect.

Dave, I could but I have the trailer at a buddies house that has a paint booth.  He is out of town for the next week, will get some when he returns. The sterling silver is a rich looking color, I have not clear coated them yet and may not, not sure.  The Kenworth spinners are chrome and a low cost alternative to the Bushtec caps.  I picked the trailer up right cooler and cover are inside in the photo.

This is the 8th Bushtec  I have owned.  They are a good trailer, especially now that I have learned to not only pre check my bearings but to keep a set on hand. If I see one at a decent price I usually buy it. Some I use some I just re sell. My wife and my buddies think I'm insane.

Is that the one going to Ouray?
Ought to be real nice when you are done.
My project is coming together slowly. The damn lights are wired backwards inside at the sockets themselves. Damn Chinese crap.

Chains I thought you already had a bushtec trailer, wasn't that you talking about changing wheel berings not long ago?

on another note regarding those Kenworth spinners maybe ya need a few of my Kenworth stickers for your man cave or shop  or sumthin?  egg carton there to show size, real high quality mylar sticker with round corners, put it on right and pressure washers won't phase it, if ya want it off get the blow dryer out. made to last on a tractor trailer for years and years wont shrink. In my day no bigger Kenworth head than me.

Here it is painted Satin Black.  Took the guy a while to get it done, he is slow but very inexpensive.  Picked it up last night, put cooler back on and luggage rack bars.  Installed Ford Raptor clear front side lights they are amber, need to wire up yet.  Will take a week to get all the paint dust out of the carpet.  Must have sat with top off for 6 weeks in his shop.  Did I mention he is inexpensive  :coolblue:

Changing tail lights to led. Terri is out getting my chrome trim that goes around wheel wells old stuff was shot.  Need to find a pinstripe guy/gal to put a little old school touch to it.

Will post inside photos when I get it cleaned up and everything back where it goes.  May just keep this one.  All though I'm not in it as good as Marty is I'm close. :2vrolijk_21:

Last with bra on it, damn thing was a bear, must have shrunk up while off, but its on and done.  Stayed with incandescent  tail lights, LED's seemed too dim.  Only thing left to do is belt line Harley decal strip and pinstripes.

Thanks Randy,

Think I'm going to replace the two yellow turn signal lights with red.  I just happen to have 4 red early Bushtec lights. I think it will look better than the yellow.

Very nice work, Jim.  Those Turbo II's are a great little trailer.  My first Bushtec was a '94 Turbo II.  Pulled it many a mile....

Have ya decided if you are gonna keep her or sell?

Going to keep it, sold my Quantum to a guy in California. This one is the right size for what I need and with the color it will go with anything.

Thanks Lou, when I got it I was trying to come up with something different. I remembered reading one of your posts about building a rat trailer.  Knowing you never did it I thought that was really a cool idea so I decided to do it.  It turned out better than I expected, turns out you had a great idea.
