I had HD heated grips fitted to my 2014 Road King, which stopped working within 1000km. The fitting kit supplied by HD relies on cheap crimp shut connectors, this may not be the case with those fitted as standard equipment. Got them fixed by an independent who soldered and shrink covered the connections and did the same on the sat nav I had fitted at delivery. Settings one or two are just about bearable when riding with thinner gloves, anything more and they are uncomfortably hot.

Had the same issues. Check your wiring. I had this issue with a bike I bought used. I had a company installing a custom stereo for me and noticed a crimped wire. Been fine ever since

My wives 2014CVO Softail has the heated grips and she can't stand them over a 2, but our friend has them installed on her older softail and she turns them all the way up to 6 and they barely get warm.   I agree it has to be the connections.
