Yawn. Give me a reason to trade my 2017!  Bring back the 2011-2012 paint work.  These colors are boring at best.  Just my .02.

I'm happy! Absolutely nothing to temp me from my current state of contentment. No reason at all to trade. Lowrider S looks interesting as a potential addition, but not until I ride the new Rocket III  GT.

In some ways I’m glad they didn’t make a cvo rg and I’m not personally impressed with the street glide. So makes me happy I bought a 18 gunship rg still best bike of the last three years imo. Also just my opinion so not to offend anyone who likes or may buy a 2020 good for them but I’ll keep my 18 for a long time unless Harley can make something that catches my eye.

Sometimes I wonder about getting a CVO Street Glide.  Looking at these has eliminated that pondering for 2020.

Considering the lack of special paint jobs, I assume they will be dropping the prices at least $2k.  Those have to be the plainest paint jobs I've ever seen on a CVO.

Jerry

Nope, not $2,000, just $350.

Current MSRP on 2020 CVO Street Glide, without lowers, is $40,539

2019 MSRP on 2019 CVO Street Glide, with lowers, is $40,889.

I would have liked to find a new set of lowers, painted to match the CVO colors, for $350... :)

Don't see where the "optional" lowers are on Harley's web sight Howard. Can you enlighten me please.

I was answering Jerry's question on lowering the price.  He speculated that based on the poor color choices for CVO's in 2020, the price should be $2,000 lower.  However it's only $350 lower and I was attempting to explain.  The 2020 SESG comes sans lowers where the 2019 SESG came with lowers.  The price for the 2020 went down $350 so I was speculating it would be nice to have found a set of lowers, painted to match the CVO colors, for that $350 price difference.  There isn't anywhere you can find that, just speculating the MoCo only values their included painted lowers on their previous CVO's at $350 when the book has them for much, much more.

...hope this explanation helps... ;D

This is a CVO a place for MOCO to showcase all the parts and accessories that will one day be standard (maybe) on future bikes, they stripped it down, removed lowers, removes speakers, removed radiator cooling, removed second amp and did 3 basic paint jobs.

I had 2 cvo street glides prior the silver flake and black in 15 and the ghost flames in 16 loved them cutting edge and exciting parts and accessories wit the 110 se, this 2020 offering looks like they cut parts to cut costs and maximize profit like any good publicly traded company would do.

I was excited to see if I would be trading in my 18 cvo mako shark, but looks like I’m keeping it...bonus is no cvo road glide this year.

Again H-D did a terrible job on paint. Cut the lowers, speakers and amplifier.  For the second year in a row they will have a lot of these bikes sitting on the floor. H-D needs to hire a better artist to design paint work. 🙁

So they cut lowers, which would cost over 1K to add.  The cut a pair of speakers and an amp about 1500 to add.  So 2500 dollars less in the bike, but only 350 dollars less to the consumer.

I have no issues with the paint good or bad. But for the love of god how about some creativity and change. Start with the front fender. Been using that fender since when.....the Johnson administration. How about a fairing changing. Nothing drastic just some new lines. And what about the bullet turn signals after how many years they can’t offer any better, cleaner sleeker....really?? Now about the rear fender. CVO’s been using that same horizontal light pattern for years and years plus the ugly ass duck bill license light. No one with H-D can come up with a new look design.......really?

Same wind screen they were using what 10 years ago nothing better out there?

Yes I miss the lowers too.....but at least someone made an attempt to create a new look with the crash bar.

There’s not much you can do with saddle bags I guess. But what about swept back side covers standard on all CVO’s.
Perhaps invert the front forks too???

Hey it’s a motorcycle I know you’re limited to what you can actually change. So innovate and change chit. Be creative.

Also lastly I don’t know what new suspension or technical advances have been added to the 2020 models...if any at all.

Rant over.

I see absolutely no reason to part with my 2015.  I'll go look at the new bikes but I just don't see anything changing in my garage.  As a second bike the Street Fighter may be an option but there isn't enough info on that one out there yet.  Namely price, and a potential new untested motor.

Wow, they certainly are getting worse as far as paint schemes and options go. The paintwork on my 19 model is a let down after the 2016 CVO RGU I had the new crop doesn't deserve the CVO moniker.

I'm glad I got one last year, I wouldn't drop the coin on one of the new models.

And even after all the negative comments, when they hit the showrooms there will be people walking in to trade their two year old CVO on the new one.  It's obviously a sickness and has nothing to do with logic and common sense.  Harley did a great job on the marketing and brainwashing side of the business, which enabled them to blow off the quality/reliability/customer service side.  They are going to ride that pony until it dies.

Matt Laidlaw has posted a video walking through the new models.    I have to admit that the new Street Glides look kinda cool in his Hi Res Video.   There is one with a brushed aluminum finish that looks cool.    The CVO Street Glides start at 44:24 in.

Just went through the new Touring Section on line, plus the CVO's.  What a disappointment!  The CVO Street Glide has 26 pages of customization parts for the Custom Vehicle.  The paint offerings look like primer.  No distinctive tank emblems or lighting.  Lower fairings are Extra. Sissy pad extra.  I realize that "In matters of taste there is no right or wrong" but this lineup is just plain average. No bling, nothing creative or edgy. I guess the focus groups said they "didn't want to clean anything". Indian should have a field day.

When I bough my Indian Chieftain Limited in Ruby Red with NO GRAPHICS I was concerned that when the 2020 CVO's were released I may be slightly disappointed. Well I aint sorry!!

I swear it aint upside down in real life or on my computer before attaching it here. LOL Anyone know how to rotate it??

let's see, they removed lowers, removes speakers, removed radiator cooling, removed second amp, removed all chrome, and removed custom paint, chit I'll bet they shaved more than 5k off the cost of that bike but Hey they did toss in a CVO decal  :huepfenjump3:

Indian is going to move right into their custom niche, just went to their site to peek around and got a kick outa seeing them copy the hard candy paint, they say that imitation is the highest form of flattery

let's see, they removed lowers, removes speakers, removed radiator cooling, removed second amp, removed all chrome, and removed custom paint, chit I'll bet they shaved more than 5k off the cost of that bike but Hey they did toss in a CVO decal  :huepfenjump3:

Indian is going to move right into their custom niche, just went to their site to peek around and got a kick outa seeing them copy the hard candy paint, they say that imitation is the highest form of flattery

x2.  That's why you see so many advertisement shots from the side or back.  Indian should just finish the job on that fairing & copy HD's style.

Well, not all think it's ugly. I like the built in driving lights and the wind management on that faring. The more I look, clean and ride it, the more I have enjoyed it. That disco ball paint scheme from eagle1's post will blind you in the sun and not our cupatea either. Funny but that bike sold quick at the k'ville store.
However, the elite roadmaster in blue and the two tone red from the previous chieftain elite is outstanding. Plus, Indian paints all their regular and custom in house and take pride in that work.
Just as the Harley ad says, it ain't for everyone but those of us that have come from the dark side have really enjoyed the move.

Just my personal opinion on that Indian fairing.  Hear similar from a lot of HD riders who are riding fairing bikes.  Some like it no doubt & some like it better than HD.

It reminds me of the last (2000's) Ford T-birds, in reverse.  Liked the front of those cars ok, but could not stand how they looked from the back.

Glad you are enjoying your Indian.  Better to be on 2 wheels than 4 no matter what the logo says.  :2vrolijk_21:

That is the fairing on the Indian Classic bikes or the pre-2019 Chieftain Limited. This is the fairing on the 2019 Chieftain Limited. Like Haird I am really loving my Indian also. Did I also mention we have a button that raises and loweres the windshield ;D

Darn upside down again and I don't even live in Austrailia :o

That ^ to my eye is a nice looking bike.  Probably because I'm so used to the Road Glide I think I'd like it even better if the fairing were slightly wider.  I think I'd like to see lowers there too.  But that's all individual preference and (probably) familiarity.  Still a really good looking bike.

Losing that big honking chrome piece on the fairing was a very good idea for Indian. Could be styled with better lines still, but losing that chrome was a step in the right direction.

Nothing personal Haird. The one thing that has always held me back from an Indian bike is the aesthetics. They have come a long way. From the side I thoroughly enjoy the new Chieftan. From the front, they have a long ways to go IMO.

Let's talk about this machine. Power? Handling? Plus and minus vs the HD?

Let's talk about this machine. Power? Handling? Plus and minus vs the HD?

Right at 1000 miles and so far and it has been a pure joy. The 116 even with the stock Indian map has been a blast and consider that the CVO Road King had a GMR Performance 113 kit with custom tune! I have the Indian map that comes with their 116 cubic inch big bore kit so I don't have any dyno numbers but it has been just as much of a blast to ride as the Road King was. This bike has 3 ride modes which all it really does is change the throttle response but in sport mode it feels pretty much like the road king did as far as throttle response. The exhaust is Indian's Stage one and the tone and loudness has been just as good as I had with the Vance and Hines header with Kury Crusher slip-ons. Also the idle lope on this thing with the stage 3 cams that come with the big bore kit is awesome, almost reminds me of an older Harley with a carb. It does have the rear cylinder shut off and even though it does change the lope some it is still not as noticeable as it was on the Harley. She does get pretty hot since I still have a CAT in the head pipe so I have left the rear cylinder cut-off enabled. It can be turned off from the ride command touchscreen. The Ride Command is really nice, has TPMS Navigation Bluetooth and such. The sweet thing is that if it starts raining I can put it in tour mode on the fly and it dampens that throttle response so it is kinda like rain mode. A lot of the folks on Indians forum have went with a PVCX Tuner to get even better performance but I do not feel I need it. Maybe because I am getting older? :'( The suspension and handling has been exceptional. Railroad crossing that I would creep across on the Road King I can cross at 15 to 20 MPH. This thing loves to lean I have been taking curves with signage for 15 MPH at 35 -40 MPH. The Power Band Audio upgrade has been great and consider that the Harley had a system by Soundz Customz on it! I am loving the fact that I have been able to remain all completely Indian components so the extended warranty will be completely intact. I hope to not need the warranty but with all of the electronics on these things it sure does help with the peace of mind. I threw Indian's accessory catalog at this thing with a full two pages of printed out accessories and the final price before taxes and after negotiating cam out to right at 38K. Oh yeah I forgot to mention the power windscreen that goes up and down with a switch on the handlebars.

The only negatives I have found so far is the gas tank is 5.5 gallons instead of 6 and the FM radio reception is not very good, but listen to music streamed from my I Phone or Pandora anyway and there is also a USB connection for a flash drive also.

If you dare find you an Indian dealer and go test ride one. My local dealer had one that they were allowing test rides on. or better go when the demo truck is there and ride them all including one with the 116 kit and the PowerBand Audio upgrade ;D

So you have the Chieftain Limited with the stage 3 upgrades and the audio upgrades? I just built one with that and the tourpak as well as a few other upgrades. Came to about 40k on their website.

Yes Sir. The PowerBand PLus which includes the saddlebag audio. Also heated grips heated seat select rider and passenger floorboards. rider backrest. Upgraded windshield leather tank pouch leather soft closeouts for highway bars, rear highway bars all of the small chrome pieces like oil cooler cover and such and the pinnacle mirrors and I am sure I am forgetting a little of something. They came 1500 off of MSRP which pretty much paid for the accessories installation and gave me 20 percent off of all the accessories. Also since buying it I have been back in there to buy some clothes and such and they continue to give me 20 percent off of those items also!! I did not do the tour pack because I am retiring in a little less than 3 years and we are going to get a toy hauler and I wont need the tour pack at that point.

That's great buddy, happy for you.

Unfortunately Indian is not an option for me right now. My wife won't even open up to getting one. She thinks they are hideous. Luckily she hasn't been impressed with any of the CVO's for quite some time either.

Saddle goes next.  Will be marketed as the new Screamin' Eagle Sport Touring Posture models; stand on the pegs.  All day long.  It'll be cool (Harley will tell us so).

That will be on the Limited Screamin' Eagle Sport Touring model only.  On the Standard the pegs will be extra and will require an adapter to be compatible with the jiffy stand.

Good thing they pulled the "label maker" out and labeled it CVO on the back....cuzz... most folks are gunnnahh walk right past that and never take notice.

"Now let me get this straight, Billy Bob you paid $47ooo for your white street glide and Nancy Joe you paid half that for your white street glide?"
"I have GOT to get me one of those label makers"

"No No NO but wait!  See where hers is shiny chrome and, and mine,  mine is satin,  see I got satin pipes and my front forks are anodized, liquidized, blackish semi chrome"
"And and and my wheels, See where hers are chrome and all shiny...well... mine are painted or something."

I don't know, it probably looks great in person.  Just reminds me of my brother in law telling me about his neighbors new Harley.

"I don't know what model it is but it doesn't have hardly any chrome on it, so it must be one of their cheaper models"

Saddle goes next.  Will be marketed as the new Screamin' Eagle Sport Touring Posture models; stand on the pegs.  All day long.  It'll be cool (Harley will tell us so).

And standing on those pegs will not be a problem because it will not run long enough for you legs or feet to get tired

One FOB instead of two, no heel shifter and for the EU market no alarm horn. Still happy with my scooter 2011 Orange/ black with a lot of chrome :bananarock:

Almost forget, you have to bring $ 55.000,00 to EU Harleydealer to get the new SG 2020 model. No super tuner and standard exhaust.

Once again, the MoCo has convinced me to keep my coin in the bank and continue to enjoy my 2015 SESG. With the 117 kit she rivals the CVO M8s. Oh yeah, she is dripping with chrome and a head turning paint job.  ;)

I was looking at purchasing a 2020 SG in Smokey Great & Black Hole, convinced I wanted a 2020 Model after the sumping has been resolved, looking over the pictures I didn't like the colours, what took my attention in the first place was the 70’s style pin stripping, looks like CVO’s traditional custom popping paint is dying off.
I would have like to see more pin stripes on the Fairing and Side covers with a Smokey Grey inner fairing, may have ridden away on one but not this time around.
Looking over my 2012 SG I must admit the colour scheme is a true CVO.

So what in the collective opinion would be a can't walk away from this deal price for a 2020 CVO SG?

Sticker out the door is a good start.  That means no added on B.S. set up fees, markup etc....(FYI, HD reimburses the dealer for freight and if you want to give them that its up to you)  All that plus some goodies ie: backrest, rack etc.  Also if your financing the dealer is gonna markup your rate so shop them.  For comparison I purchased my 17' CVOSG in 4/17 for a little under sticker OTD with $550 in gift cards for the dealership, life time tires (a HD demo day thing) & 6 t-shirts.  All this while most dealers around me were putting 5k on the sticker!  Your in the driver seat so play hard and walk if you have to. I did finance a small portion with HD through the dealership, but I shopped the rate & they were pretty close so I gave them that.  Hope this helps & good luck.

PS:  the lifetime tires (if you read the fine print) I mentioned only works if you do all your services through the dealer & put a least 8k on them.  I do my own maintenance so I lost out!

I was thinking 4k off MSRP and throw in the 131 kit. Then we can talk. Cash deal. All they can say is no.
