Esp renewal now only up to 60k miles
« on: September 04, 2019, 08:56:46 PM »

Applies to all bikes, not just the CVOs but couldn't find the best board to post this on.

I was told by the sales manager from my dealership tonight that you can't renew the MoCo esp after 60k miles now instead of the 75k miles it has been. I didn't ask if this was for all bikes or just new ones.

Something to look into further.

Thanks.  Very interesting, can guess the reasons why.

Considering the ever worsening quality and reliability, I'm amazed the ESP company still wants to do business with Harley at all.

Does this mean you cannot buy a 7 year unlimited mileage warranty when buying a new bike any longer?

Also, seems like these policies keep getting more expensive. Wonder what the max term policy now cost?

Key word there is RENEWAL.

More info. You can now buy a 12 or 15 year old used bike with under 60k miles on it and buy a 5 year ESP for it. You can no longer buy a 9 year old bike with 65k miles on it and buy any ESP from MoCo.

That's actually very cool. The market is loaded with older Harleys with low miles, priced below $7500. Wonder what you would pay for a extened warranty on as example a 08 electra glide classic with 40,000 miles? Seems to me that this should really help used bike values.

How much do the ESPs cost?  Any examples?

I understand the no renewal if it's got 60K plus deal but the other part has me confused.
OBB, so what I'm reading on this change is any used, HD bike, no matter the age...that doesn't sound right so let's say going back to 2000/2001...as long as it's got less than 60K on the clock, you can purchase ESP insurance up to an additional 5 years?  But say a 2015, 2016 or 2017 (not many 2018 or newer would have 60K) with 60,100 on it cannot be offered squat in ESP insurance?  That still doesn't make any sense because even if a 2001 bike was running like a top, the parts to repair it would be a bit harder to come by (read expensive) than that 2015 or newer with miles over the limit.  Whodathunk this plan up?

The bike can't be more than either 12 or 15 years old to be eligible. Can't remember exactly which one as I've heard both numbers.

The heck of it, some dealers don't wish to work on any Harley over 9 years old. They want to push customers into new bikes.
