Title: Snow day
Post by: 110tHunDer on December 01, 2006, 10:55:59 AM

Uh, confused about whether this belongs in "Other Topics" or "Off Topic," [smiley=confused5.gif] but I haven't experienced a snow day since I was a Jr. in High School.  Well, last night we got about 10 inches and another 3-5 is falling right now along with wind gusts to 40mph.  They haven't plowed the street out in front of my house yet, so even thought I have a 4x4, I'm not going anywhere soon.  My boss and my boss's boss sent out e-mails to everyone on their staffs saying if there's any doubt about coming into work, don't.  So, I'm doing some teleconferences from here at home today and then trying to dig out after it stops, hopefully sometime after noon.

And to think as recently as Tuesday of this week it was 65 degrees AND last Saturday and Sunday I had the bike out!

Well, I have never had a snow day I have only seen snow maybe three times in my life. I was just on the phone with Dave telling him that it was to muggy and hot and I am thinking of turning the AC back on. I loved the picture of the snow.

You just keep all that white chit up there with you, Brian :o :o  If it snows that much here in B'ham, the whole City shuts down 'till it melts, usually the next day.  In '93 we got over 18" (a 100 year freak event)...I was at home for 4 days before I could drive anywhere...without power for 7 days.  Only a fireplace and hot water...but I had camping gear, thank goodness, so could cook and see with Coleman Fuel.

I go VISIT the snow for a few days each year...it's pretty, but living in it for 3 or 4 months is not my cup of tea...

Hey Brian.  It was 28 degress this morning coming to work.  But no snow and now the sun is shining.  Supposed to get into upper 40s tomorrow.  Keep that white stuff up there, please.  Like TC said, when we get big snows down this way it really snarls things up.  No snow plows to clear things out.  But it usually doesn't last very long.

Brian,
Nice pics, that stuff is headed this way any time now. Although the weather here has been strange, 70 in Boston yesterday heading into the 20's by the weekend. But that will all change in another 10 minutes.

Good luck in the snow!

Ed

PS. Get that truck out there! That's what it's made for, go have some fun!!

Brian,
Please keep that stuff up there. We do get snow here, but fortunately/normally it's not that much and doesn't last to long. The bad part about it snowing is the chemicals they put down to get rid of snow that stay around long after snow is gone. Usually when the chemicals hit the roads I don't ride until we have a significant rain to clear/clean the roads off. Like riding in the fall with the  (wet) leaves on the roads isn't anything worse then being in a deep lean in a corner and find a big pile of chemicals (salt/sand) where the DOT guy stopped his truck and forgot to close his chute. We had a snow day up here on Monday.  The nice thing is it is always gone in a few days.  Trouble we that is it means it will be raining for the next 2 months.  Looks good for a day or two but then it's time to go.  If I want snow I'll go to the mountains.  Nice pics by the way.

Brian actually I love that white stuff. Up here in the Mountains once it is on the ground it stays for a while. Usually till spring during a cold winter. They are calling for below normal temps and above average snow fall. Now that is winter.

Have fun digging out. That part of winter sucks. That is why I have a 855 deere with a power angle plow and a pto spreader. When it is time to go to work you can't just call in for a snow day.

Be Safe
