One of the coldest trips I ever had the wife on was Memorial Day in the Smokies. What I thought was the tree disease was frost up high. I guess I'm saying that you can have great weather at one elevation and be colder than he11 up high. Enjoy your trip.

Around Knoxville , it's typically nice with lows in the mid 50's and highs in the mid 70's , average rainfall for May is about 4.6" .
It can get down to freezing and has been as hot as the mid 90's.  When you go up to the BRP or anywhere in the Smokies you can expect a temp drop .

May is good riding weather around here, If like last year we had a lot of rain but cold weather is gone by then. It could be very cool if you ride the Cherahala but it can be cool up there in june. But form the most part very good riding weather.

We stayed a few days in Sevierville in late-April 2008 and rode the Skyway, went to Deal's Gap and did some riding around in southeastern TN.  It was cool, but sunny and dry for the most part.  You just never know for sure in the mountains, but that's part of what makes it interesting. :nixweiss:

We do our annual pilgrimage to Pigeon Forge in mid May.  Riding in the Smokies and the Blue Ridge that time of the year can be chilly up at elevation, but it's enjoyable.  Temps have always been pleasant.  For instance, in 2008 we rode the Dragon in heavy spring jackets, but last May, rode the Dragon in t-shirts, so the temps can very, just pack accordingly.  There's always plenty of places to pull over and either put on or take of a jacket.  It's a great time of the year to ride in that area.
