Saturday morning I'm trying to stuff my wife's pocketbook into the tourpak and saying to myself just loud enough for anyone to hear WTF, this thing fit before what did she put in here?

And Rich standing there saying "maybe because your tourpak is a king and mine is a chopped" ...

uh oh, and the new guy learns about threadjacking in his very first thread....    :drink:

Sorry Ben, don't worry though.  Someone will still get to the tire size question.  If not I'll find it and let you know.
Aren't there slight differences between the different brands of tires. I vaguely remember someone saying that a particular size in Metzler would work, but the same size in Dunlop would rub. :nixweiss:

That does sound right for the stock size.  In a discussion in the SEEG section quite some time ago there were some who'd done a 150 without any alteration.  And one or two that gut a rub with a 150.  With that as an assumed given I'd worry about a 160.

Something else to pay very close attention Ben will be the load rating.  There were several wider tires the group has run in to in times past that, upon further review, didn't have the load rating necessary for a loaded touring bike.  Just because it fits doesn't necessarily mean it's right.

I believe that's where the different brand/manufacturer information I'm thinking about came from. :nixweiss:
