Had the most amazing day on my new FXSTSSE2
« on: April 05, 2008, 07:54:55 PM »

All,

Picked up my SE Springer (105th colors) from Jones HD in Little Rock at about 10:00 this morning.

I've got to tell you, I've owned seven motorcycles and never been as excited to pick one up. I saw it on the floor four days ago and instantly fell in love. WOW, what a bike this is!

Trailered it to storage very gingerly and went on one of the most exceptional rides I've ever done.

Put about 175 miles on her on a beautiful 65 degree clear Arkansas day, kept it under 4000 RPMs, and worked on bedding in the brakes (still a bit to go, but stopped OK).

This bike is IT. It's heavy, solid, powerful, and visceral.

I had no idea how the springer suspension would be as I have never ridden one. Very pleasantly surprised. It's smooth over the bumps and handles like a dream.

I hated to put the bag over her, but all things come to an end--for now.

One question: my mirrors don't rotate far enough down to see behind me (not that it matters on this baby). Should I loosen the risers and rotate the bars down? They seem a bit high anyway.

Anyway, keep the shiny side up and enjoy the Spring,

Happ

Congrats on the new ride!  Thinking about one myself except modifying like the cross bones (i.e. apes, floorboards and solo seat)

Yes, you can adjust the bars, should be no problem.

Did your cheeks ever stop hurting from all that smiling you did?  ;D

Glad that you enjoyed your day with the new scoot.

Standard mirrors are great....if all you want to see is both your arms only :confused5: I got myself a set of double mirror type units from H-D # 92190-06, being one a wide angle disc.... I found two problems; one, it is hard to focus on two mirrors at a time, but for that I guess you get accustomed to. two, no matter how hard I tighten the screws that pinch the spherical adjustable mirror/stem connection, when I ride over 70 mph both mirrors bend inwards till I only see my belly..
If I get that sorted out, I will surely appreciate them a lot more.
